Illinois River 2003 Pollutant Loads At Arkansas Highway 59 Bridge, Marc A. Nelson, L. Wade Cash Sep 2004

Illinois River 2003 Pollutant Loads At Arkansas Highway 59 Bridge, Marc A. Nelson, L. Wade Cash

Technical Reports

Automatic water samplers and a U. S. Geological Survey gauging station were established in 1995 on the main stem of the Illinois River at the Arkansas Highway 59 Bridge. Since that time, continuous stage and discharge measurements and water quality sampling have been used to determine pollutant concentrations and loads in the Arkansas portion of the Illinois River. This report represents the results from the measurement and sampling by the Arkansas Water Resources Center -Water Quality Lab for January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003.

Water Quality Sampling, Analysis And Annual Load Determinations For Tss, Nitrogen And Phosphorus At The Wyman Bridge On The White River, Marc Nelson, L. Wade Cash Jul 2004

Water Quality Sampling, Analysis And Annual Load Determinations For Tss, Nitrogen And Phosphorus At The Wyman Bridge On The White River, Marc Nelson, L. Wade Cash

Technical Reports

An automatic water sampler was established in 2000 on the main stem of the White River at the Wyman Road Bridge. The Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) was approved by EPA Region six on April 2000 and sampling was begun at that time. This station is coordinated with a USGS gauging station at the same location. This station was instrumented to collect samples at sufficient intervals across the hydrograph to accurately estimate the flux of total suspended solids, nitrogen and phosphorus into the upper end of Beaver Lake from the White River. The Upper White was designated as the states …

Groundwater in the West (Summer Conference, June 16-18)

Conference moderators and/or speakers included University of Colorado School of Law professors James N. Corbridge, Jr., Douglas S. Kenney, Jim Martin and Kathryn M. Mutz.

The Colorado Law Natural Resources Law Center celebrated its 25th Annual Summer Conference by exploring one of the most important natural resources of the 21st century: groundwater. Titled "Groundwater in the West," the conference was held June 16-18 at the Fleming Law Building on the University of Colorado at Boulder campus. Participants discussed law, policy, and management of groundwater in the West. "As demands on surface water increase and drought seems more the norm than …

Narrogin Townsite Test Pumping Results 2003, Louise Hopgood Feb 2004

Narrogin Townsite Test Pumping Results 2003, Louise Hopgood

Resource management technical reports

Test pumping of a production bore in Narrogin took place for 24 hours in August 2003. Data generated by the test pumping was analysed along with groundwater monitoring, climate and geological data. Laboratory analyses of water samples from the production bore indicate very high levels of salinity and hardness which may lead to severe scaling and corrosion of pumps, pipes and pipe fittings.

Kellerberrin Townsite Test Pumping Results 2003, Louise Hopgood

Resource management technical reports

A production bore in Kellerberrin, Western Australia, was test pumped for 24 hours in August 2003. Data generated by the pumping were analysed with groundwater monitoring, climate and geological data. Laboratory analyses of water samples from the production bore indicate a low pH and very high levels of salinity, hardness, sodium, chloride, iron, sulphate, aluminium and manganese. This is likely to lead to scaling, blockages, staining and/or corrosion of pumps, pipes and pipe fittings.

Diagnostic Watershed Model For Pathogen Speciation And Mitigation, Kentucky Water Research Institute Jan 2004

Diagnostic Watershed Model For Pathogen Speciation And Mitigation, Kentucky Water Research Institute

KWRRI Research Reports

This project was proposed to help satisfy the identified needs of the USEPA watershed initiative with specific application to pathogen problems in Kentucky and in particular the Eagle Creek Watershed which lies in the Kentucky River Basin. The overall goal of the project was the development of new tools for use in pathogen TMDL development.

Consequences Of Reservoir Drainage On Downstream Water Chemistry, Suspended Sediment, And Nutrients, Southwest Missouri, Mark W. Bowen Jan 2004

Consequences Of Reservoir Drainage On Downstream Water Chemistry, Suspended Sediment, And Nutrients, Southwest Missouri, Mark W. Bowen

MSU Graduate Theses

Construction and subsequent draining of reservoirs can have dramatic affects on the release of nutrients and sediments to waterways. This study describes how the temporary draining of a small reservoir for dam repair influences downstream water quality. The Valley Mill Reservoir has a surface area of 6.1 hectares and volume of 150,000 m3 when filled. Water chemistry monitoring and water sampling were performed at six sites during baseflow and ten sites during runoff events for one year. Water samples were analyzed for total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorous (TP), and total suspended sediment (TSS) concentrations. Results indicate that draining of Valley …
