Sodium Carbonate Catalyzed Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting Over Tio2 Nanotubes Photoanode, De-Sheng Kong, Jing Wang, Xue-Di Zhang, Xi Zhao, Chao Wang, Yuan-Yuan Feng, Wen-Juan Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

Surface recombination of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs at semiconductor/electrolyte interface is one of the most essential reasons responsible for lowering photoconversion efficiency (Φ) of light to chemical energy for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting reaction. In this paper, the catalytic effect of sodium carbonate on the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) over TiO2 nanotubes photoanode during PEC water splitting was investigated by performing photocurrent and ac impedance measurements. It was demonstrated that the addiction of 1 mmol•L-1 Na2CO3 in 0.5 mol•L-1 NaClO4 electrolyte can effectively improve the charge transfer properties for the photogenerated holes …

Thermal Effects On The Measurement Of Photocurrent At Anodic Films On Silver Electrode, Yuan Gu, Zhi Yu Jiang Nov 2001

Thermal Effects On The Measurement Of Photocurrent At Anodic Films On Silver Electrode, Yuan Gu, Zhi Yu Jiang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The influence of heat on the photocurrent of Ag electrode in alkaline solution was investigated by measuring photocurrent, photothermal signal and thermal current under the irraiation of laser beams with the wavelengths of 488 nm and 532 nm. It was found the photocurrent at the Ag 2O film was influenced by the temperature change at the electrode surface under the irradiation of light. During the electrochemical transfer between Ag, Ag 2O and AgO in the anodic film, the surface temperature changed obviously due to the different absorptance of the surface substances. It was suggested by comparing the voltammograms, photocurrent curves …

The Influence Of Heat On The Measurement Of Photocurrent At The Anodic Film Of Nickel Electrode, Hang Chen, Zhiyu Jiang May 1999

The Influence Of Heat On The Measurement Of Photocurrent At The Anodic Film Of Nickel Electrode, Hang Chen, Zhiyu Jiang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The influence of heat on the measurement of photocurrent for nickel electrode in 1 mol/L NaOH solution was investigated by using the photocurrent, photothermal and thermal current methods. It was found that the appearance of photocurrent in potential region of -0.750.20 V(vs. Hg/HgO electrode) was due to the p_type semiconductor properties of Ni(OH)2 film in which is agree with the previous report. In the Ni(OH)2/NiOOH redox potential region, the increase of temperature at the surface of working electrode during irradiation significantly promoted the electrochemical reaction strongly. The photocurrent observed in potential region 0.200.57 V is mainly attributed to the influence of …

A Photoelectrochemical Investigation Of A.C.Modulated Passive Films On 304 Stainless Steel In Weak-Alkaline And Neutral Solution, Tianbao Du, Chunan Cao, Jiakang Yu, Haichao Lin Nov 1995

A Photoelectrochemical Investigation Of A.C.Modulated Passive Films On 304 Stainless Steel In Weak-Alkaline And Neutral Solution, Tianbao Du, Chunan Cao, Jiakang Yu, Haichao Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

A photoelectrochemical investigation has been carried out on AISI 304 stainlesssteeI AV modulated passive film in 0.1mol/L Na_2B_4O_7 and 0.5 mol/L Na_2SO_4 solution.Photocurrentcurve depends on the potential、passive condition and testing solutions. The results of the measurementsindicate that the photoresponse is determined by the defects in the electronic structure of the films whenthe defects lead to localized states in the bandgap region. It is concluded that the passive film on AISI304 stainless steel is in a highly disordered amorphous state.

Photoelectrochemical And Spectroelectrochemical Studies Oniron Oxide Ultrafine Particles, Maizhi Yang, Yongjun Ji, Wen Zhang, Shengmin Cai May 1995

Photoelectrochemical And Spectroelectrochemical Studies Oniron Oxide Ultrafine Particles, Maizhi Yang, Yongjun Ji, Wen Zhang, Shengmin Cai

Journal of Electrochemistry

in this paper, Raman spectra, photocurrent and the UV-VIS reflectance aremeasured for studying the α-Fe_2O_3ultrafine particles adsorbed on Pt electrode. The blue shifts ofRaman peaks demonstrate the size quantization effect for the particles of 50 nm in diameter ascompared with the bulk material. With the changing of the potential , the photocurrent decrcases as theUV-VIS reflectance increases, and vice-versa. Therefore, the potential not only affects the hargetransfer direcdtion in the interface of electrede/redox couple, but also influences the light absortion onthe surface of particles.According to the results of photoelectrochemistry, we suggest that the cathedicphotocurrent in the potential range of more …

A Photoelectrochemical Investigation Of Zirconium Oxide Film, Maizhi Yang Feb 1995

A Photoelectrochemical Investigation Of Zirconium Oxide Film, Maizhi Yang

Journal of Electrochemistry

A photoelectrochemical investigation has been carried out on zirconium initialoxide film and its oxide film grownanodically at constant rate up to different thickness. Both anodicand cathedic photocurrents on the photocurrent spectrum depended on the potential, but had littlerelation with the forming anedic films or measuring solutions. Photocurrent spectrum and photocurrenttransients suggested that the oxide films on zirconium were duplex layers structure. The internal layerwas ZrO_2 and the external layer ZrO_2·(H_2O)_n. The photocurrent included photogenerated carrier ininternal and external oxide films,as well as internal photoinjection process for electrons from thesubstrate metal into the electrode/electolyte interface reacting with the redox couple. The analysis …
