Investigating The Operation Of Multiple Voltage Regulators And Dg In A Distribution Feeder, Dothinka Ranamuka, A Agalgaonkar, K Muttaqi

Integration of distributed generation (DG) in a distribution network may introduce adverse effects including control interaction, oscillatory transients and operational conflicts. This paper investigates the operation of multiple voltage regulators such as on-load tap changer (OLTC) and step voltage regulator (SVR), and DG in a medium voltage distribution feeder. Investigations have been carried out using time domain simulation studies conducted using MATLAB-SimPowerSystems. The results are reported for a case study involving radial distribution feeder, derived from New South Wales (NSW) electricity distribution network in Australia.

Integration of renewable Distributed Generation (DG) into the distribution networks is one of the effective ways to ensure emission reduction with the added benefits of network support and transmission and distribution system expansion deferral. Emission reduction by renewable DGs mostly depends on the generation technology, size and type of DG units and curtailment of fossil fuel based grid energy. This paper proposes a strategy for evaluating the size and type of renewable DG and determining the best mix of different renewable DG technologies by minimising primary and operational emissions without violating network constraints. Impacts of Distributed Generation (DG) resources on distribution networks have been studied. A Newton-Raphson algorithm based three phase unbalance power flow program has been developed to incorporate the effects of system unbalance and single phase DG injection. Power flow equations have been formulated and solved in phase coordinated form. Effects of substation load-tap changer, voltage regulator, shunt capacitor and different type of load models have been considered in the development of the program. Transcription is a complicated process which involves the interactions of promoter cis-elements with multiple trans-protein factors. The specific interactions rely not only on the specific sequence recognition between the cis- and trans-factors but also on certain spatial arrangement of the factors in a complex.
