The electric power industry has been restructuring over the last several years to allow market competition in purchasing electric power. Power generation that was traditionally provided by the local electric utility has been deregulated in order to introduce customer choice. The renewable energy sector of the power industry will have to compete with conventional fossil fuel power generators in this market.
