Sequence Similarity Search Portal, Arokiya Louis Monica Joseph Jan 2007

Sequence Similarity Search Portal, Arokiya Louis Monica Joseph

Theses Digitization Project

This project brings the bioinformatics community a new development concept in which users can access all data and applications hosted in the main research centers as if they were installed on their local machines, providing seamless integration between disparate services. The project moves to integrate the sequence similarity searching at EBI and NCBI by using web services. It also intends to allow molecular biologists to save their searches and act as a log book for their sequence similarity searches. The project will also allow the biologists to share their sequences and results with others.

Conceptual Model Builder, Chia-Yang Lin Jan 2004

Conceptual Model Builder, Chia-Yang Lin

Theses Digitization Project

Whenever one designs a new database system, an Entity-Relationship Diagram (ER diagram) is always needed to present the structure of this database. Using the graphically well-arranged ER Diagram helps you to easily understand the entities, attributes, domains, primary keys, foreign keys, constraints, and relationships inside a database. This data-modeling tool is an ideal choice for companies and developers.

Development Of An Operations Research Software Package For Army Divisions., Blane C. Wilson Dec 1998

Development Of An Operations Research Software Package For Army Divisions., Blane C. Wilson

Theses and Dissertations

There exists great potential for applying operations research techniques to solve specific problems in the areas of operations, installation support, and training at the Army division level. Because of the operational tempo of today's active-duty and reserve component units, command must focus on accomplishing the daily missions. Also, due their limited knowledge of the field, planners may not be aware of how operations research can be used to enhance planning and operations. Time, training funds, resources, safety, personnel, and equipment are all critical factors in this process. Operations research techniques could be used to improve division-level operations by saving time, …

An Investigation Of Software Reliability Models, Pamela Elaine Bowman Aug 1996

An Investigation Of Software Reliability Models, Pamela Elaine Bowman

Computer Science Theses & Dissertations

Many software reliability models have been promoted in the literature in an attempt to provide a meaningful response to the growing need to know the reliability of software during and after the development process. However, there are well-founded concerns as to the accuracy of the individual model, as well as to the choice of which model to use for a particular program. A recent experiment based on the debugging history of a partially debugged program used a gold version to label a debugging graph from replicated data. This experiment concluded that presenting the replicated data to the models in a …

The A.D.E. Taxonomy Of Spreadsheet Application Development, Maria Jean Hall Jan 1992

The A.D.E. Taxonomy Of Spreadsheet Application Development, Maria Jean Hall

Theses: Doctorates and Masters

Spreadsheets are a major application in end-user computing, one of the fastest growing areas of computing. Studies have shown that 30% of spreadsheet applications contain errors. As major decisions are often made with the assistance of spreadsheets, the control of spreadsheet applications is a matter of concern to enduser developers, managers, EDP auditors and computer professionals.

The application of appropriate controls to the spreadsheet development process requires prior categorisation of the spreadsheet application. The special-purpose A.D.E. (Application, Development, Environment) taxonomy of spreadsheet application development was evolved by mathematical taxonomic methods to categorise spreadsheet development projects to facilitate their management and …

A Case Study In Software Reuse: The Rntds Architecture, Barry J. Stevens Dec 1991

A Case Study In Software Reuse: The Rntds Architecture, Barry J. Stevens

Computer Science Theses & Dissertations

It has been asserted that the most significant gains in software productivity will come from increased levels of software reuse. Some economic models for predicting savings through software reuse exist, but none are based on actual project experience. This paper surveys those models and presents the results of a case study, the Restructured Naval Tactical Data Systems (RNTDS) architecture, in the light of those models. According to the models, software reuse via the RNTDS architecture has enabled the production of fourteen major computer programs at five to twenty-one percent of the cost to create them without software reuse. Organizational characteristics …
