Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

The steady laminar viscous incompressible nanofluid flow of mixed convection and mass transfer about an isothermal vertical flat plate embedded in Darcy porous medium in the presence of magnetic field and viscous dissipation is analyzed. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by similarity transformations. The coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations are linearized by Quasi-linearization technique. The linear ordinary differential equations are solved by using implicit finite difference scheme with the help of C-programming. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameter such as magnetic field, mixed convection parameter, inertia parameter, buoyancy ratio …

The influence of various parameters on the concentration, temperature, velocity, Sherwood number and Nusselt number are discussed with the help of graphs. The numerical values of skin-friction are shown in tables. Applications of the study arise in field like planetary …

Effect Of Fluid Suction On An Oscillatory Mhd Channel Flow With Heat Transfer, N. Ahmed, A. H. Sheikh, D. P. Barua

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is generally concerned with the study of the magnetic properties (behaviour) of electrically conducting fluids (plasmas, liquid metals etc.) moving in an electromagnetic field. The importance of the concept of MHD in various fields such as astrophysics, bio-medical research, missile technology and geophysics motivates the modelling and investigation of MHD flow and transport problems. The role of fluid suction is paramount in laminar flow control and has wide applications in fields such as aeronautical engineering, automobile engineering and rocket science. This fact inspires the study of the effects of fluid suction in flow and transport models. Time dependent …

On The Analytic Solution For The Steady Drainage Of Magnetohydrodynamic (Mhd) Sisko Fluid Film Down A Vertical Belt, A. M. Siddiqui, Hameed Ashraf, T. Haroon, A. Walait

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This paper presents an analytic study for the steady drainage of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Sisko fluid film down a vertical belt. The fluid film is assumed to be electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field. An analytic solution for the resulting non linear ordinary differential equation is obtained using the Adomian decomposition method. The effects of various available parameters especially the Hartmann number are observed on the velocity profile, shear stress and vorticity vector to get a physical insight of the problem. Furthermore, the shear thinning and shear thickening characteristics of the Sisko fluid are discussed. The …

Unsteady Boundary Layer Flow Of Thermophoretic Mhd Nanofluid Past A Stretching Sheet With Space And Time Dependent Internal Heat Source/Sink, N. Sandeep, C. Sulochana, C. S. K. Raju, M. J. Babu, V. Sugunamma

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

In this study we analyze the boundary layer flow of a thermophoretic magnetohydrodynamic dissipative nanofluid over an unsteady stretching sheet in a porous medium with space and time dependent internal heat source/sink. The governing equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformation. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained by using the Shooting Technique. The effects of non-dimensional governing parameters on the velocity, temperature, concentration profiles, friction factor, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are discussed and presented through graphs and tables. Accuracy of the results compared with the existing ones. Excellent agreement is found with earlier studies.

Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)

This investigation is undertaken to study the effects of heat source and radiation absorption on unsteady hydro-magnetic heat and mass transfer flow of a dusty viscous incompressible, electrically conducting fluid between two vertical heated, porous, parallel plates in the presence of chemical reaction under the influence of a transverse applied magnetic field. Initially, the channel walls as well as the dusty fluid are assumed to be at the same temperature and the mass is assumed to be present at low level concentration so that it is constant everywhere. It is also assumed that the dusty particles are non-conducting, solid, spherical …

Hall Effect On Mhd Forced Convection From An Infinite Porous Plate With Dissipative Heat In A Rotating System, Nazibuddin Ahmed, Jiwan Krishna Goswami

Turkish Journal of Physics

An attempt has been made to study the Hall effect on MHD forced convection from an infinite horizontal porous plate with dissipative heat in a rotating system with uniform free stream when the temperature at the plate varies periodically with time. The entire system rotates with a constant angular velocity about the normal to the plate. A uniform magnetic field is assumed to be applied along the normal to the plate directed into the fluid region. The governing equations are solved analytically. The expressions for the velocity and temperature field are obtained in non-dimensional form. The skin friction due to …
