Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière

Artificial Intelligence Health Technologies (AIHT) are taking their place in the practice of nursing. However, the curricula have not evolved to include competencies required of nursing graduates to incorporate their impact on theory and practice. This project was born of an identified need by nurse educators to articulate new competencies grounded in the literature and expert knowledge. Based on extensive literature reviews and an iterative process of expert validation, this paper provides recommendations for five new competencies that will be needed for nurses to use AIHT responsibly, ethically, and intelligently in the best interests of patient care. The methodology started …

Head And Neck Tumor Histopathological Image Representation With Pre- Trained Convolutional Neural Network And Vision Transformer, Ranny Rahaningrum Herdiantoputri, Daisuke Komura, Tohru Ikeda, Shumpei Ishikawa Apr 2023

Head And Neck Tumor Histopathological Image Representation With Pre- Trained Convolutional Neural Network And Vision Transformer, Ranny Rahaningrum Herdiantoputri, Daisuke Komura, Tohru Ikeda, Shumpei Ishikawa

Journal of Dentistry Indonesia

Image representation via machine learning is an approach to quantitatively represent histopathological images of head and neck tumors for future applications of artificial intelligence-assisted pathological diagnosis systems. Objective: This study compares image representations produced by a pre-trained convolutional neural network (VGG16) to those produced by a vision transformer (ViT-L/14) in terms of the classification performance of head and neck tumors. Methods: W hole-slide images of five oral t umor categories (n = 319 cases) were analyzed. Image patches were created from manually annotated regions at 4096, 2048, and 1024 pixels and rescaled to 256 pixels. Image representations were …

The Ratio Method: Addressing Complex Tort Liability In The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Harrison C. Margolin, Grant H. Frazier Oct 2021

The Ratio Method: Addressing Complex Tort Liability In The Fourth Industrial Revolution, Harrison C. Margolin, Grant H. Frazier

St. Mary's Law Journal

Emerging technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution show fundamental promise for improving productivity and quality of life, though their misuse may also cause significant social disruption. For example, while artificial intelligence will be used to accelerate society’s processes, it may also displace millions of workers and arm cybercriminals with increasingly powerful hacking capabilities. Similarly, human gene editing shows promise for curing numerous diseases, but also raises significant concerns about adverse health consequences related to the corruption of human and pathogenic genomes.

In most instances, only specialists understand the growing intricacies of these novel technologies. As the complexity and speed of …

10-Minute Ebd: Artificial Intelligence In Orthodontics, Jayne Kessel Dds Apr 2021

10-Minute Ebd: Artificial Intelligence In Orthodontics, Jayne Kessel Dds

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

This Ten-Minute Evidence-Based Dentistry Article provides an example of the implementation of the EBD search process with trusted search engines for the identification of the best literature through critical appraisal to answer a clinical question. "For patients receiving orthodontic care, is an AI-generated treatment plan as likely to achieve acceptable outcomes?" Orthodontic treatment planning is a complex and time-consuming process that requires a high degree of expertise. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to assist orthodontists in this process by automating some of the tasks involved, such as cephalometric analysis, surgery decisions, extraction decisions, and anchorage decisions.

A recent systematic …

Ai Use In Claims Processing And Utilization Review, Robert Rosenthal Dds Apr 2021

Ai Use In Claims Processing And Utilization Review, Robert Rosenthal Dds

The Journal of the Michigan Dental Association

This paper investigates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in claims processing and utilization review in the dental industry. This article aims to explore the potential benefits of AI in this area, such as increased efficiency, accuracy, and fraud detection. The paper begins by providing an overview of the current state of claims processing and utilization review in the dental industry. It then discusses the potential applications of AI in this area, such as automated claims adjudication, predictive analytics, and image recognition. The paper then presents a case study of P&R Dental Strategies, LLC, a leading business intelligence solutions provider …
