Chemistry and Chemical Biology ETDs

Diesel oxidation catalysts deactivate due to Pt sintering, a major problem in automotive industries. To make sure they operate effectively throughout the lifetime of the vehicle, automotive industries are putting an excessive amount of Pt. There is a need to develop a catalyst that serves long term performance with minimal use of Pt. Jones et al.1 demonstrated that ceria traps Pt atoms. His work generated some logical and valid questions such as what is the mechanism for the formation of anomalously large Pt particles? What is the upper limit of Pt metal loading in the form of single atoms …

The Interaction Of Ternary Components Of Ionic Liquid Gel Polymer Electrolytes For Lithium Metal Batteries, Xiao-Na Pan, Li-Lai Liu, Zhi-Pu Wang, Dan Wang, Yun Li, Pei-Xia Yang, Jin-Qiu Zhang, Mao-Zhong An Jun 2020

The Interaction Of Ternary Components Of Ionic Liquid Gel Polymer Electrolytes For Lithium Metal Batteries, Xiao-Na Pan, Li-Lai Liu, Zhi-Pu Wang, Dan Wang, Yun Li, Pei-Xia Yang, Jin-Qiu Zhang, Mao-Zhong An

Journal of Electrochemistry

Ionically conductive gel polymer electrolyte is an excellent candidate due to its inflammable, nonvolatile and high thermal stability as compared to commercial liquid electrolytes which are usually flammable, volatile, and containing toxic organic solution as solvent, The synthesis and application of ionic gel polymer electrolytes in lithium ion/metal batteries have been previously reported. However, the interaction effects of N-methyl-N-propylpiperidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PP13TFSI) ionic liquid (as plasticizer) and lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) on PVDF-HFP polymer remain unclear. In this work, the molecular structure of ionic liquid gel polymer electrolyte (ILGPE) composed of PP13TFSI, LiTFSI and PVDF-HFP was studied by Raman spectroscopy and Fourier-transform …

Influence Of Nanoparticle Weight Fraction On Morphology And Thermal Properties Of Hdpe/Sio2 Composite Films, A. A. Nabiyev Mar 2020

Influence Of Nanoparticle Weight Fraction On Morphology And Thermal Properties Of Hdpe/Sio2 Composite Films, A. A. Nabiyev

Eurasian Journal of Physics and Functional Materials

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) composite films with di erent amounts of SiO 2 nanoparticles ( 1 - 20 % vol.) were prepared by melt blending using a high-pressure thermal pressing technique. The morphological characterization, surface topology and distribution of nanoparticles in polymer matrix of nanocomposites were investigated by using Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The thermal characterization of the nanocomposites were investigated by di erential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). SEM and AFM results revealed that silica nanoparticles aggregates were distributed mainly homogeneously. The nano-fillers change supramolecular structure and surface morphology of HDPE strongly. DSC …
