An Investigation Of The Synergistic Effect Between (1,3-Dioxolan-2-Ylmethyl)Triphenylphosphonium Bromide And Iodide Ion For The Corrosion Inhibition Of Zinc In Citric Acid, Saadawy M. Aug 2017

An Investigation Of The Synergistic Effect Between (1,3-Dioxolan-2-Ylmethyl)Triphenylphosphonium Bromide And Iodide Ion For The Corrosion Inhibition Of Zinc In Citric Acid, Saadawy M.

Journal of Electrochemistry

The effect of (1,3-Dioxolan-2-ylmethyl)-triphenylphosphonium bromide (DTPB) on the zinc corrosion in 0.5 mol·L-1 citric acid solution was investigated at 30 oC using weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. An ecofriendly bath was used for acid cleaning of zinc, which has not been widely used in literatures. The results showed that DTPB could serve as an effective inhibitor for the zinc corrosion in a citric acid solution with the inhibition efficiency of 98.9% at the DTPB concentration of 3×10-3 mol·L-1. A synergistic effect between DTPB and potassium iodide (KI) enhanced the inhibition …

Corrosion Behavior Of Zinc Covered With Thin Electrolyte Layers Under External Electric Field, Xu-Jie Yuan, Jun-Xi Zhang, Shi-Ming Zhang, Tian Tan, Qi-Meng Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

The corrosion behavior of zinc covered with thin electrolyte layers (TELs) under an application of external electric field was investigated by performing corrosion potential and cathodic polarization current measurements. The results showed that the Ecorr and ic values first increased and then decreased with the increase of electrolyte layer thickness. Pure zinc exhibited the maximum corrosion potential as the TELs increased to 400 μm under the controls of cathodic process and corrosion products. The application of external electric field resulted in either a negative shift in corrosion potential of zinc or an increase of cathodic current. The effect of external …

Effects Of Additives On The Electrochemical Behaviors Of Zn Electrode In Alkaline Solutions, Shu-Na Hong, Hai-Bin Lin, Zuo-Jian Su, He-Bing Zhou, Man Liang, Wei-Shan Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

Electrochemical behaviors of Zn in 3mol•L-1 KOH solution containing the single additive( Pb(NO3)2 , SDBS )the mixed additives( Pb(NO3)2+SDBS ) were investigated. The results showed that all the additives can supress the corrosion of zinc in 3mol•L-1 KOH solution. And the inhibition effeciency of the mixed additives is higher than that of any single additive.

Synergism Of Complex Additives Of Dtab+Ktl For Zinc Corrosion Inhibition In Koh Solutions, Sheng-Zhou Lin, Zeng-Xin Cai, Gui-Sheng Wang, He-Bing Zhou, Wei-Shan Li Aug 2009

Synergism Of Complex Additives Of Dtab+Ktl For Zinc Corrosion Inhibition In Koh Solutions, Sheng-Zhou Lin, Zeng-Xin Cai, Gui-Sheng Wang, He-Bing Zhou, Wei-Shan Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical behaviors of Zn in 3mol/L KOH solution containing several kinds of inhibitors were investigated by weight-loss,electrochemical methods and SEM. The results showed that both the single ad-ditive and the mixed additives can suppress the corrosion of zinc in 3 mol/LKOH solution. And the inhibition ef-feciency of the mixed additives is higher than that of any single additive because of the synergistic effect between KTL and DTAB. The adsorption of DTAB on the surface of zinc has been enhanced in the presence of KTL.

Electrochemical Behavior Of Zinc Alloy Anode In Ca(Oh)_2 Solutions Of Different Ph, Peng-Ying Ren, Ji-Quan He

Journal of Electrochemistry

The polarization curves of zinc alloy anodes in Ca(OH)2 solutions have been measured by potentiodynamic method, and the composition of corrosion products were examined by X-ray-diffraction(XRD).The experimental results indicated that not only the electrochemical behavior of zinc alloy anodes were absolutely different in every alkaline solutions, but also many electrochemical parameters were determined, such as zero current potential(E0),the density of corrosion current(icorr),passive current density(ip),breakdown potential(Eb),and so on.There were three zero current potential when zinc alloy anodes in some Ca(OH)2 solutions which made passive state unstable. The graphs of E-pH about zinc alloy anodes dipped in different Ca(OH)2 solutions were drawn, and compared with the potential-pH …

Synthesis Of Zinc Polyhedral Microspheres And Applications In Alkaline Zn-Mno_(2)Battery, Hua Ma, Chun-Sheng Li, Fang-Yi Cheng, Chun-Yuan Zhou, Feng Gao, Jun Chen

Journal of Electrochemistry

The zinc polyhedral microspheres were synthesized by evaporation of pure zinc powders via a vapor-transport process. The results characterized by XRD and SEM show that the as-synthesized zinc powders are polyhedral microspheres with the diameter of 2~3 μm.The electrochemical investigation showed that the capacity of the as-assembled AA-size primary alkaline Zn-MnO_(2)battery was increased to 3.14 Ah under the constant discharge current of 100 mA by using the as-deposited microspherical zinc powders as the anode active materials and γ-MnO_(2)nanowires as the cathode active materials, indicating their potential application in high-energy batteries.

Study On The Hydrogen Permeation Through Zinc Electrodeposit, Jiangli Cao, Jixun Wu, Yanping Lu, Jie Shi

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical hydrogen_permeation technique was used to study hydrogen permeation through zinc electrodeposit with bilayer specimens of Fe substrate/zinc electrodeposit. The effect of coating thickness on hydrogen diffusion coefficient and hydrogen steady-state flux was studied. The results showed that hydrogen diffusion coefficient was approximately in the range of 10-11 cm2s-1 rank and zinc coating could retard hydrogen permeation. Accordingly, hydrogen steady_state flux and effective diffusion coefficient declined while the coating thickness increased.

Study Of Electrodepositing Bright Tin Cobalt Zinc Alloy From Weak Acid Solution, Zhengzhong Zuo, Runxiang Hou, Shaochun Xia

Journal of Electrochemistry

A new process of electrodeposting bright Tin Cobalt Zinc alloy from weak acid solution is proposed in this paper. The solution compositions and operating conditions are Na 3C 6H 5O 7·2H 2O 100~150,Na 2EDTA·2H 2O 20~30,SnCl 2·2H 2O 15~20,CoSO 4·7H 2O 25~35,ZnCl 2 15~20 g·L -1 ;stabilizer WDZ 1 60~100, brightener WDZ 2 15~20 mL·L -1 ; pH=4~6, D K = 0.5~5.0 A·dm -2 , T= 5~35 ℃. A bright Sn Co Zn deposit having Co about 0.5~3.5% and Zn about 1~10% is produced. The effects of bath compositions on Co or Zn content in deposit is also discussed.
