Synthesis And Characterization Of Pyridine-Based Diimide Ligands And Metal Phosphonate Coordination Polymers, Juan Pinedo

Honors Program Theses and Research Projects

Coordination polymers have been a topic of interest because of the large variety of applications these materials have. in particular Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have been researched due to their porosity and simple synthetic pathways. Structurally a MOF is composed of one or more organic ligands serving as the backbone of the structure. These ligands are complexed with metal ions coordinating into the desired structure. It is this structure that gives way to a variable porosity useful for proton conductivity and material transport. By varying backbone size a framework can be customized for use in specific conditions. This is due not …

Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopic Studies Of Pyridine Adsorbed On Ti/Au@Sio2 Film Electrode, Min-Min Xu, Ke Liu, Qing-Hua Guo, Jian-Lin Yao Jun 2014

Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopic Studies Of Pyridine Adsorbed On Ti/Au@Sio2 Film Electrode, Min-Min Xu, Ke Liu, Qing-Hua Guo, Jian-Lin Yao

Journal of Electrochemistry

This study was performed based on shell-isolated nanoparticles-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SHINERS) technology. The Au@SiO2 nanoparticles were prepared and characterized by TEM and cyclic voltammetry. It was shown that the shell of SiO2 was compact. The high quality signal measured by surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) was obtained from the adsorbed pyridine on Ti/Au@SiO2 electrode. The origin of the SERS signals was further confirmed by testing Pt and Ni electrodes. In addition, potential dependent adsorption behavior was investigated. It was found that pyridine was adsorbed parallel on the surface from -0.1 V to -0.6 V, and converted to …

Density Functional Theory Studies Of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy In Electrochemical Interfaces, Liu-Bin Zhao, De-Yin Wu, Bin Ren, Zhong-Qun Tian Aug 2010

Density Functional Theory Studies Of Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy In Electrochemical Interfaces, Liu-Bin Zhao, De-Yin Wu, Bin Ren, Zhong-Qun Tian

Journal of Electrochemistry

Quantum chemical density functional theory and Raman scattering theory were used to study the bonding mechanism and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy of pyridine adsorbed on transition metals (Ⅷ group) and coinage metals (IB group) . SERS studies of pyridine-metal systems have been reviewed. Chemical bonding mechanism as well as photo-driven charge transfer mechanism was considered to investigate the vibrational frequency shift and the enhancement of SERS intensity in electrochemical interfaces. Our theoretical results can be used to interpret the SERS phenomena dependent on metals, excitation wavelengths, and applied potentials.

Surface Raman Spectra Obtained From Various Electrodeposited Transidon Metals, Jingsong Gao, Bin Ren, Qunjian Huang, Zhongqun Tian Aug 1996

Surface Raman Spectra Obtained From Various Electrodeposited Transidon Metals, Jingsong Gao, Bin Ren, Qunjian Huang, Zhongqun Tian

Journal of Electrochemistry

Good quality potential-dependent surface Raman spectra of pyridine were obtained for the first time from a series of transition metals,e. g.,Fe,Co,Ni,Ru,Rh,Pd and Pt,which were electrodeposited on non-SERS-active substrates. The influences of the applied potential and the nature of metal on the adsorption behaviors were discussed briefly. This result illustrates that Raman spectroscopy is becoming a more general and powerful tool to study various electrochemical interfaces.

Surface Raman Spectra Of Pyridine And 2 Mercaptopyrimidine Adsorbed On Rough Nickel Electrode, Qunjian Huang, Jinsong Gao, Xiongwei Cai, Bingwei Mao, Mingseng Zheng, Zhongqun Tian May 1996

Surface Raman Spectra Of Pyridine And 2 Mercaptopyrimidine Adsorbed On Rough Nickel Electrode, Qunjian Huang, Jinsong Gao, Xiongwei Cai, Bingwei Mao, Mingseng Zheng, Zhongqun Tian

Journal of Electrochemistry

The Raman spectra of pyridine and 2 mercaptopyrimidine (2 MP) adsorbed on bare nickel electrodes roughened by a HNO 3 etching procedure have been obtained for the first time by utilizing a highly sensitive confocal Raman microscope.Their adsorption behaviours are discussed briefly. This primary result illustrates a great potential for in situ Raman spectroscopy in the study of chemical and electrochemical processes of transition metal surfaces.
