Study Of Physical Layer Security And Teaching Methods In Wireless Communications, Zhijian Xie, Christopher Horne

KSU Proceedings on Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice

In most wireless channels, the signals propagate in all directions. For the communication between Alice and Bob, an Eavesdropper can receive the signals from both Alice and Bob as far as the Eavesdropper is in the range determined by the transmitting power. Through phased array antenna with beam tracking circuits or cooperative iteration, the signals are confined near the straight line connecting the positions of Alice and Bob, so it will largely reduce the valid placement of an Eavesdropper. Sometimes, this reduction can be prohibitive for Eavesdropper to wiretap the channel since the reduced space can be readily protected. Two …

Evaluating Two Hands-On Tools For Teaching Local Area Network Vulnerabilities, Ariana Brown, Jinsheng Xu, Xiaohong Yuan Oct 2018

Evaluating Two Hands-On Tools For Teaching Local Area Network Vulnerabilities, Ariana Brown, Jinsheng Xu, Xiaohong Yuan

KSU Proceedings on Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice

According to the Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report, Local Area Network (LAN) access is the top vector for insider threats and misuses. It is critical for students to learn these vulnerabilities, understand the mechanisms of exploits, and know the countermeasures. The department of Computer Science at North Carolina A&T State University designed two different educational tools that help students learn ARP Spoofing Attacks, which is the most popular attack on LAN. The first tool, called Hacker’s Graphical User Interface (HGUI), is a visualization tool that demonstrates ARP Spoofing Attack with real time animation. The second tool is a hands-on (HandsOn) …

Putting The Generic Solution Of Transparent Thinking Approach (Tta) In Instructional Material Production, Mohammad A. Aliedeh, Sajedah Aliedeh May 2018

Putting The Generic Solution Of Transparent Thinking Approach (Tta) In Instructional Material Production, Mohammad A. Aliedeh, Sajedah Aliedeh

ICOT 18 - International Conference on Thinking - Cultivating Mindsets for Global Citizens

Humanity is overburdened by an overwhelming challenges, problems and failures that are plaguing global development system, in general, and global educational system in specific. Transparent Thinking Approach (TTA) is developed in response to these multi scale and multi domain problems by offering a generic reform approach that enable the thinker to employ a multi perspective, maneuvering, and modeling tools while looking for a solution. TTA is a newly developed value-engrained and thinking based educational reform approach. It is generic and unique features enables it to easily diffuse in all domains (Aliedeh, M. A., 2015 a, b, c, 2016, …

Self-Coaching With Ai: Developing Thinking Skills, Thinking Dispositions, And Well-Being, Olivier Malafronte, Isla Reddin, Roy Van Den Brink-Budgen May 2018

Self-Coaching With Ai: Developing Thinking Skills, Thinking Dispositions, And Well-Being, Olivier Malafronte, Isla Reddin, Roy Van Den Brink-Budgen

ICOT 18 - International Conference on Thinking - Cultivating Mindsets for Global Citizens

Being motivated by the need to address the challenges of our Volatile Uncertain Complex Ambiguous world, we strive to create tools to improve people’s lives and help them become more resilient, resourceful, self-confidant, and successful.

In a digital world, we must understand how to efficiently connect to digital systems. Connecting “with AI” doesn’t mean spending more time on digital devices, but spending time in a deliberate way with purpose and intentional learning outcomes.

As a society, we want to see graduates with emotional intelligence and reflective skills in order to address global economic and social issues. As for jobs …

The Urban Black Male: Early Indicators Of Algebra 1 Failure, Roy Harris Apr 2018

The Urban Black Male: Early Indicators Of Algebra 1 Failure, Roy Harris

Scholar Week 2016 - present

The meager mathematical performance of the Black male student has been a well-documented event that was well over 30 years in the making. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the literature on 9th grade urban Black male algebra performance and to identify the existence of any early predictors of high school algebra 1 failure. Specifically, the study sought to identify any difference in the preferred learning styles, mathematics self-efficacy scores, and standardized test scores, among urban Black males 14-16 years who passed high school algebra 1 1st semester of the 2016-2017 school year and urban …
