Geology Of The East-Central Portion Of The Nelson Quadrangle, Clark County, Nevada, Tedral Kantor Jan 1961

Geology Of The East-Central Portion Of The Nelson Quadrangle, Clark County, Nevada, Tedral Kantor

Masters Theses

"The purpose of this investigation was to determine the unusually complex geology of a little-known area south of the Eldorado mining district, southern Clark County, Nevada. The area, mapped at a scale of 1:24000, comprises a segment of the northerly-trending Eldorado mountains in the southeast corner of the Great Basin. This rugged desert area is on a drainage divide between the Great Basin and the Colorado River. The rocks of the area consist of Precambrian gneisses and schists invaded by successive generations of Upper Cretaceous (?) - Tertiary igneous rocks. The older rocks, mainly biotite-chlorite gneisses, have resulted from high-grade …

Certain Features Of Alteration In The Michigan Lavas And Their Genetic Interpretation, Peethambaram Doraibabu Jan 1961

Certain Features Of Alteration In The Michigan Lavas And Their Genetic Interpretation, Peethambaram Doraibabu

Masters Theses

"The origin of the alteration and copper mineralization in the Keweenawan lavas of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is one of the well known controversial topics in Economic Geology. The literature on this problem is most extensive and an attempt was made in this thesis to first review as many aspects of the discussion as appeared to be necessary. This portion is necessarily extensive, and it is hoped that some new light has been thrown here on some patterns of approach or thought which, today, can hardly be called scientific.

Next, the observations made in the field, on hand specimens …

Certain Trace Element Distribution In The Searchlight, Nevada Quartz Monzonite, Clark County, Nevada, Jai Nandan Shrivastava Jan 1961

Certain Trace Element Distribution In The Searchlight, Nevada Quartz Monzonite, Clark County, Nevada, Jai Nandan Shrivastava

Masters Theses

"The once prosperous gold, silver, copper and lead mines of the Searchlight mining district, Nevada, are situated along the south and western margins of a large quartz monzonite body. This intrudes the Precambrian gneisses and younger lava flows. Associated mineral veins show an eccentric type of zoning around the intrusive.

Seven rock samples of the quartz monzonite representing different parts of the intrusive were analyzed petrographically and spectrographically. Modal analyses and various types of rock alteration were investigated petrographically. Spectrochemical analyses of the rock samples and their major minerals were carried out for certain trace elements. A semi-quantitative method was …

Sedimentary Features And Geochemistry Of The Sulphide Facies In The Transition Between The Lamotte Sandstone And The Bonneterre Formation In The Fredericktown Area, Madison County, Missouri, Farouk El Baz Jan 1961

Sedimentary Features And Geochemistry Of The Sulphide Facies In The Transition Between The Lamotte Sandstone And The Bonneterre Formation In The Fredericktown Area, Madison County, Missouri, Farouk El Baz

Masters Theses

"SCOPE AND PURPOSE The Lead Belt area of southeast Missouri, which is nearly 40 km. long and 10 km. wide, is considered, at the present time, the most important lead district in the world. Lead has been mined in this area by the natives prior to 1720, and almost continuously up to the present day. A variety of sulphides are mined from different places in the district.

The sulphide deposits in the Lead Belt are considered to be typical examples of the Mississippi Valley Type Deposits, which are distributed all over the world. As in practically all the Mississippi Valley …
