Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Gülbahçe Fault Zone (GFZ) is a significant tectonic structure and seismic source for İzmir city and its surroundings. The major earthquakes occurred at the surroundings of GFZ are 2005 Seferihisar, 2020 Samos Island-Aegean Sea and 2021 Seferihisar earthquakes. In this study, the crustal thinning and tectonic stress distribution of GFZ and its surroundings were analyzed by using the new gravity and magnetic data. The correspondence analysis was applied by appraising together the magnetic and free-air anomaly data. Moreover, the average density of the subsurface structure was calculated by applying the Parasnis method. The deviatoric stress calculation was executed and the …

The various data processing techniques, to illuminate the parameters of the geological structure which are applied in gravity and magnetic potential field methods. Also edge detection procedures are in data processing techniques. In this study, 2D, 3D, inversion and asta technique is one of the new edge detection procedures were applied to clarify correlation between the Simav half graben’s deep position and geometry of the tectonic lineaments. The Asta is obtained using the tilt angle.

The Airborne Magnetic Signature Of Gökova Gulf, Uğur Akin, Ahmet Üçer Dec 2013

The Airborne Magnetic Signature Of Gökova Gulf, Uğur Akin, Ahmet Üçer

Bulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration

Gökova gulf situated in the Aegian extension zone in Turkey has been considered very interesting for numerous research workers. Gökova gulf is located in the N-S regional extentional tectonic regime. N-S extension of western Anatolia initiated development of E-W extended grabens here. The bay extends 100 km E-W and 25 km N-S directions. Datça peninsula is in the south, Bodrum peninsula is located in the north of the Gökova gulf. In recent years ‘Full Tensor Gradiometer Potential Field’ methods (FTG) has found a practice area in between the gravimetric and magnetic methods. In the past as it was in the …

Tilt angle method, which has been recently used in investigating the boundaries of structures, reveals useful information on deep and shallow structures. Tilt angle is expressed as the arctan value of the ratio of the vertical derivative of the potential field to its horizontal derivative. The method was applied to Kýrþehir-Ý31 Sheet. As a result, the presence of volcanites buried under terrestrial sediments was demonstrated.
