Feature Detection In Medical Images Using Deep Learning, Anthony Pasquarelli

Honors Projects in Information Systems and Analytics

This project explores the use of deep learning to predict age based on pediatric hand X-Rays. Data from the Radiological Society of North America’s pediatric bone age challenge were used to train and evaluate a convolutional neural network. The project used InceptionV3, a CNN developed by Google, that was pre-trained on ImageNet, a popular online image dataset. Our fine-tuned version of InceptionV3 yielded an average error of less than 10 months between predicted and actual age. This project shows the effectiveness of deep learning in analyzing medical images and the potential for even greater improvements in the future. In addition …

Can Ego Defense Mechanism Help Explain Is Security Dysfunctional Behavior, Abhijit Chaudhury, Debasish Mallick

Information Systems and Analytics Department Faculty Conference Proceedings

IS security behavior studies are becoming popular. To date, much of the research has been based on theories such as the Theory of Planned Behavior, Technology Adoption Model, Rational Choice theory and Theory of Reasoned Action. They view users as rational individuals making conscious utilitarian decisions when there is increasing evidence that security breaches are the result of human behavior such as carelessness, malicious intent, bad habits, and hostility. We propose the ego defense mechanism model, taken from the psychoanalytical world. This model makes no assumption of rationality and has been developed to help understand the roots of dysfunctional behavior …

A Comparison Of Information Technology Mediated Customer Services Between The U.S. And China, Suhong Li, Hal Records, Robert Behling Jan 2018

A Comparison Of Information Technology Mediated Customer Services Between The U.S. And China, Suhong Li, Hal Records, Robert Behling

Information Systems and Analytics Department Faculty Journal Articles

Information technology mediated customer service is a reality of the 21st century. More and more companies have moved their customer services from in store and in person to online through computer or mobile devices. Using 442 responses collected from one USA university (234 responses) and two Chinese universities (208 responses), the study investigates customer preferences over two service delivery models (either in store or online) on five types of purchasing (retail, eating-out, banking, travel and entertainment) and their perception difference in customer service quality between those two delivery models in the U.S. and China. The results show that the majority …
