We propose a system and method for a robot assistant for teaching multi-attribute decision making (MCDM). Through questions and answers in natural language, the robot assistant learns the user’s preferences on multiple criteria involving a selection decision and makes recommendations using data on each criterion and the learned user preferences. It will include a use-case demonstration where NAO the robot will assist a human in forming a simple portfolio of mutual funds. This study hypothesizes that injury-causing factors can be identified through training machine learning models with NFL injury data. The machine learning process entailed web scraping, pre-processing, cleaning, modeling, and analyzing NFL injury data to identify these factors. The features used to model injuries included the following: games played, games started, weight, height, age, year, years of experience, starting position, and team. The four models used to model NFL injuries were Logistic Regression, Decision Trees, Random Forests, and Gradient Boosted Trees. This paper presents student projects analyzing or using blockchain technologies, created by students enrolled in courses dedicated to teaching blockchain, at two different universities during the 2018-2019 academic year. With the imminent need of regional environmental protection and sustainable economic development, the concept of virtual water is widely used to solve the problem of regional water shortage. In this paper, nine provinces, namely Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, and Shandong in the Yellow River Basin (YRB), are taken as the research objects. Through the analysis of input-output tables of 30 provinces in China in 2012, the characteristics of virtual water trade in this region are estimated by using a multi-regional input-output (MRIO) model. Ever wonder how the Tesla Autopilot system works (or why it fails)? In this tutorial we will look under the hood of self-driving cars and of other applications of computer vision and review state-of-the-art tech pipelines for object detection such as two-stage approaches (e.g., Faster R-CNN) or single-stage approaches (e.g., YOLO/SSD). Information technology mediated customer service is a reality of the 21st century. More and more companies have moved their customer services from in store and in person to online through computer or mobile devices. Using 208 respondents collected from two Chinese universities, this paper investigates customer preference over two service delivery model (either in store or online) on five type of purchasing (retail, eating-out, banking, travel and entertainment) and their perception difference in customer service quality between those two delivery model. This project explores the use of deep learning to predict age based on pediatric hand X-Rays. Data from the Radiological Society of North America’s pediatric bone age challenge were used to train and evaluate a convolutional neural network. The project used InceptionV3, a CNN developed by Google, that was pre-trained on ImageNet, a popular online image dataset. Our fine-tuned version of InceptionV3 yielded an average error of less than 10 months between predicted and actual age.
