Effective Graph-Based Content--Based Image Retrieval Systems For Large-Scale And Small-Scale Image Databases, Ran Chang

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Digital imaging was a great invention in the last century. Since digital cameras became popular in the public, a large amount of digital images emerged in the late of the twentieth century. How to manage the huge amount of images and find desired images among them became an urgent issue during the same period.

Techniques of retrieving a desired image are generally categorized into two basic classes. One relies on text-based key words to retrieve desired images in the image
database. The other one relies on image-based queries to retrieve desired images in the image database. The second technique is …

Discrete Dynamics On Noncommunative Cw Complexs, Vida Milani, Seyed M.H. Mansourbeigi Sep 2013

Discrete Dynamics On Noncommunative Cw Complexs, Vida Milani, Seyed M.H. Mansourbeigi

Computer Science Student Research

The concept of discrete multivalued dynamical systems for noncommutative CW complexes is developed. Stable and unstable manifolds are introduced and their role in geometric and topological configurations of noncommutative CW complexes is studied. Our technique is illustrated by an example on the noncommutative CW complex decomposition of the algebra of continuous functions on two dimensional torus.

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

iNetTest is a useful tool to help instructors deliver computer-based tests, but when an instructor gives a test, they would often like to know individual question results, e.g.

  • What was the average score for a question, how many got it correct and how many missed it,
  • What was the most common answer chosen (for multiple choice, T/F, etc.),
  • What was the score for a section?
  • What was the average score for a section?
  • etc.

Whenever individuals consider such data they often prefer different or multiple ways in which to analyze the data. For that reason, it was decided not to …

Effect Of Step Rate On Foot Strike Pattern And Running Economy In Novice Runners, Janae Lynn Richardson May 2013

Effect Of Step Rate On Foot Strike Pattern And Running Economy In Novice Runners, Janae Lynn Richardson

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Purpose—The objective was to examine if step rates ±5% or ±10% of a novice runner's preferred step rate (SR) is sufficient enough to shift a novice runner’s foot strike pattern (FSP) (rear-foot, mid-foot, forefoot) and whether these SR changes produce changes in the rate of submaximal oxygen consumption (VO2). Methods—Foot strike angle (FSA) was recorded using sagittal plane video images and VO2 was measured for novice runners while running on a treadmill at a constant speed during increased and decreased (±5% and ±10%) SR conditions. Foot strike angle was used to predict strike index (SI) (predicted strike index = [FSA …

Digital Labeling And Narrative Mapping In Mobile Remote Audio Signage: Verbalization Of Routes And Generation Of New Verbal Route Descriptions From Existing Route Sets, Tharun Tej Tammineni

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Independent navigation is a great challenge for people with visual impairments. In this project, we have designed and implemented an assisted navigation solution based on the ability of visually impaired travelers to interpret and contextualize verbal route descriptions. Previous studies have validated that if a route is verbally described in sufficient and appropriate manner then VI can use their orientation and mobility skills to successfully follow the route. In this project, we do not consider the issue how the VI will interpret the route descriptions, but we aim to identify and generate new verbal route descriptions from the existing route …

3-Way Test Suite Prioritization And Fault Detection: A Case Study, Arjun Roy Chaudhuri May 2013

3-Way Test Suite Prioritization And Fault Detection: A Case Study, Arjun Roy Chaudhuri

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

GUI and web based applications are becoming universal. Functional accuracy of those applications is vital. Software defects caused by poor software testing can cost billions of dollars. Further, web application defects can be costly due to the fact that most web applications handle regular user interaction. By improving the time efficiency of software testing, many of the costs associated with defects can be saved. Web application users generate large numbers of possible test-cases and out of all those test-cases only some of them are vital for functional testing. Therefore testing correctness of these applications is expensive and time consuming and …

Automated Check-In And Scheduling System For A Web-Based Testing Application, Ashwin V. Kumar May 2013

Automated Check-In And Scheduling System For A Web-Based Testing Application, Ashwin V. Kumar

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

Ideally, a testing center and associated software should be an effective tool for learning assessment. It should serve as a link between faculty members who create tests and their students who are assessed by those tests. Testing centers are generally limited in the number of computer systems available as compared to the number of students taking tests. Automated testing plays an important role in such situations. Automated testing outside the classroom offers students the flexibility of choosing a preferred time for taking tests. A completely automated system also contributes in reducing a portion of the workload by automatically grading some …
