Electrochemical Biosensors For Wastewater-Based Epidemiology, Yu-Wei Pan, Kang Mao, Franziska Tuerk, Zhu-Gen Yang

Journal of Electrochemistry

Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has been shown to be an innovative approach for evaluation of drug use trends and public health assessment by quantifying drug residues and/or metabolites (so-called biomarkers) in wastewater collected in a local treatment plant. Community sewage sensors have been proposed and demonstrated to be powerful tools for the analysis of sewage biomarkers. In particular, electrochemical biosensors have emerged as a rapid method for the analysis of biomarkers and pathogens in wastewater due to low cost, minimal sample processing and the ability to test in the field. It has been widely used for biomedical diagnosis, environmental monitoring and …

An Ultrasensitive Electrochemical Immunosensor Platform Based On Disposable Ito Electrode Modified By 3-Cptms For Early Detection Of Parathyroid Hormone, İnci̇ Uludağ, Mustafa Kemal Sezgi̇ntürk Jan 2019

An Ultrasensitive Electrochemical Immunosensor Platform Based On Disposable Ito Electrode Modified By 3-Cptms For Early Detection Of Parathyroid Hormone, İnci̇ Uludağ, Mustafa Kemal Sezgi̇ntürk

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is a polypeptide containing 84 amino acids secreted by cells of the parathyroid glands. Imbalances of parathyroid levels cause medical problems such as osteoporosis, mental disorders, pancreatitis, kidney stones, cancer, and other symptoms. In this study, we aimed to design an ultrasensitive electrochemical immunosensor for PTH detection. Indium tin oxide (ITO) was used as an electrode for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. ITO sheets were modified by using 3-cyanopropyltrimethoxysilane (3-CPTMS) self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) for immobilizing the anti-PTH antibody via covalent interactions. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and EIS methods were applied to characterize immobilization steps. Therefore, 1% was selected …

Electrochemical Amperometric Biosensor Applications Of Nanostructured Metal Oxides: A Review, Bünyamin Sahin, Tolga Kaya Jan 2019

Electrochemical Amperometric Biosensor Applications Of Nanostructured Metal Oxides: A Review, Bünyamin Sahin, Tolga Kaya

School of Computer Science & Engineering Faculty Publications

Biological sensors have been extensively investigated during the last few decades. Among the diverse facets of biosensing research, nanostructured metal oxides (NMOs) offer a plethora of potential benefits. In this article, we provide a thorough review on the sensor applications of NMOs such as glucose, cholesterol, urea, and uric acid. A detailed analysis of the literature is presented with organized tables elaborating the fundamental characteristics of sensors including the sensitivity, limit of detection, detection range, and stability parameters such as duration, relative standard deviation, and retention. Further analysis was provided through an innovative way of displaying the sensitivity and linear …
