The Effects Of Salinity And Acetaminophen On The Aquatic Snail Physa Acuta, Michelle Sackey-Ansah, Megan Mackey, Daniel Elias, Jason Doll, Alyssa Brookhart

Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science

Pharmaceuticals are increasingly detected in water bodies, and their presence can negatively impact aquatic organisms. This effect can be amplified when combined with increasing salinity in freshwater ecosystems. Acetaminophen is a widely used analgesic that is commonly found in river, streams, and waters where it is discharged directly. Therefore, organisms present in these locations (e.g., insects, snails, amphibians, and fish) are likely to be affected by acetaminophen. In this study, we determined the effects of elevated salinity (0.68 g/L), acetaminophen (500 µg/L) and combined elevated salinity (0.68 g/L) and acetaminophen (500 µg/L), on the growth, reproduction, and movement of the …

Voltammetric Behavior And Its Determination Of Acetaminophen At Poly (Congo Red) Modified Electrode, Hong-Bin Luo, Ya-Feng Zhang, Wei Chen, Xin-Hua Lin Aug 2006

Voltammetric Behavior And Its Determination Of Acetaminophen At Poly (Congo Red) Modified Electrode, Hong-Bin Luo, Ya-Feng Zhang, Wei Chen, Xin-Hua Lin

Journal of Electrochemistry

Cyclic voltammetry was used to prepare poly(Congo Red) film on glassy carbon electrode and to study the electrochemical behavior of acetaminophen on poly(congo red) modified electrode.Experimental resultal shows that the poly(congo red) modified electrode exhibits excellent electrocatalytic effect on the oxidation of acetaminophen. The peak currents of linear sweep voltammogram are linear to the acetaminophen concentrations over the range of 2.0×10~(-7) ~2.0×10~(-6) mol·L~(-1).The detection limit has been estimated to be 4.0×10~(-8) mol·L~(-1).This method can be used for the determination of acetaminophenin real sample.

Hplc Method For The Analysis Of Paracetamol, Caffeine And Dipyrone, M. Levent Altun Jan 2002

Hplc Method For The Analysis Of Paracetamol, Caffeine And Dipyrone, M. Levent Altun

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

An accurate, simple, reproducible and sensitive method for the determination of paracetamol, caffeine and dipyrone was developed and validated. Paracetamol, caffeine and dipyrone were separated using a \mu -Bondapack C _{8} column by isocratic elution with a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. The mobile phase composition was 0.01 M KH_2PO_{4-} -methanol-acetonitrile-isopropyl alcohol (420: 20: 30: 30) (v/v/v/v) and spectrophotometric detection was carried out at 215 nm. The linear range of determination for paracetamol, caffeine and dipyrone were 0.409-400 \mu g/ml, 0.151-200 \mu g/ml and 0.233-600 \mu g/ml, respectively. The method was shown to be linear, reproducible, specific, sensitive and rugged.

Improvement Of The Anti-Interference Characteristics Of God Electrode By Using The Powder Microelectrode Technique, Chen Jian, Chuansin Cha Aug 1996

Improvement Of The Anti-Interference Characteristics Of God Electrode By Using The Powder Microelectrode Technique, Chen Jian, Chuansin Cha

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical behavior of ascorbic acid(AA),uric acid(UA),L-cystein(L-Cys)and acetaminophen(APAP),i.e.the main interference to the GOD electrode, were studied at the Pt,GC and powder microelectrode. Experimental results indicated that, due to the electrochemical activity of these interference,it is difficult to eliminate their interference effects by manipulation of electrede materials or working potential of the GOD electrode. However,it was found that the limiting curtents at the KB electrode are mainly controlled by mass transfer in liquid phase,so it is only related to the geometer size of the electrode, not its rcal surface area. Therefore,it is possible to enhance significantly the signal/noise ratio of the GOD electrode by …
