Electrodeposition of Ni-Co-Fe-Zn alloys was done in a chloride ion solution with the presence and absence of a Permanent Parallel Magnetic Field (PPMF). The PPMF was applied parallel to the cathode surface. The deposition profile was monitored chronoamperometrically. It was found that the electrodeposition current was enhanced in the presence of PPMF (9 T) compared to without PPMF. The percentage of current enhancement (Gamma%) was increased in the presence of PPMF, with results of Gamma% = 11.9%, 16.7% and 18.5% at -1.1, -1.2 and -1.3 V respectively for a 2400 sec duration. Multi-Component Bi-Layers Featuring 1-Octyl-2,3-Dimethylimidazolium Boolean And P-Sulfonatocalix 4 Arene Supermolecules, Yatimah Alias

Multi-component solid state structures containing 1-octyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium cations, anionic p-sulfonatocalix[4]arenes and/or large mono-phosphonium cations, as well as lanthanide metal ions are readily accessible, which have the calixarenes organised into bi-layers with gadolinium(III) coordinated between them. The imidazolium ring is confined in the calixarene cavity, essentially forming "molecular capsules'' based on two calixarenes, or with the n-octyl chain penetrating the adjacent bi-layer, with the nature of the calixarene-dimethylimidazolium interplay mapped out using Hirshfeld surface analysis. The supermolecules [1-octyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium p-sulfonatocalix[4]arene] are persistent in aqueous solutions ((1)H NMR).

Controlling The Interplay Of Large Organic Ions: Para-Sulfonato-Calix 4 Arene And Phosphonium Cations, Yatimah Alias

Materials based on polyanionic para-sulfonato-calix[ 4] arene and tetraphenylphosphonium (Ph4P+) or benzyltriphenylphosphonium (BzPh(3)P(+)) cations are built up via partial inclusion and extensive phenyl embracing in association with trivalent cations (Yb3+, Gd3+ and Er3+). The crystalline materials have layered structures and feature negatively-charged channels propagating through the solids.
