The Design And Synthesis Of A Photo-Controlled, Peptide-Based Potential Drug Carrier, Melek Parlak Khali̇ly, Sali̇h Özçubukçu
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Our focus in this study is on the design and synthesis of a light-responsive peptide-based nanocarrier in order to develop effective and biocompatible drug delivery systems. The synthesized nanocarrier is basically composed of peptide amphiphiles comprising a micelle forming a Pro-Pro-Pro-Lys-Lys-Lys peptide sequence with an attached anthracene fluorophore. Anthracene containing an inner core of the micelle can serve as a storage site for poorly water-soluble drugs. Moreover, anthracenes that come in close proximity with the formation of micellar structures can undergo photodimerization upon irradiation at 365 nm, which disrupts the micelle structures formed by the self-assembly of the peptide amphiphiles. …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Three modular types of bis(aminoalcohol)oxalamides (1,4, and 7) and bis(aminoalcohol)diglycolylamide (8) gelators have been prepared by the reaction of the respective aminoalcohols with oxalyl and digycolyl methylesters as potential low-molecular-weight organogelators. The gelation properties of these amides have been evaluated in various aromatic organic solvents (xylene, toluene, isopropyl benzene, and aromatic ether type organic fluids such as anisole or $\alpha $-phenylethylmethylether) as well as the long-chain aliphatic alcohols (1-hexanol, 1-octanol, 2-octanol, and aromatic 1-phenylethanol). The compounds with \textit{sec}-butyl and ethyl side chains produce good gelation properties in both aromatic and other organic fluids. Furthermore, the common oxalamide linker present in …

Linear Assembly And 3d Networks Of Peptide Modified Gold Nanoparticles, Şaban Kalay, Clement Blanchet, Mustafa Çulha
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The charge and size of molecules chemically attached to nanoparticles (NPs) play an important role in their interaction behavior in suspensions. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were modified systematically with peptides and the modification was verified with surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). The behavior of the modified AuNPs in suspension and at the liquid--solid interface was monitored using small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), UV/Vis spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering (DLS) in suspension, and atomic force microscopy (AFM) at the solid--liquid interface. It was found that while negatively charged peptide modified AuNPs behave very similar to citrate reduced AuNPs due to their negatively charged …
