Consumers' Perceptions Of Digital Privacy In The United States And Japan, Destiny Randle
Consumers' Perceptions Of Digital Privacy In The United States And Japan, Destiny Randle
Whittier Scholars Program
The purpose of my study is to explore the contours of contemporary consumer privacy protections derived from legislation, regulations and publicly available company policies as a way to get a better understanding of how consumer data is protected. A few examples ranging from company-based consumer protection in the United States to data breaches in Japan will be explored and examined. Finally, this paper includes a comparative survey of consumer perceptions and concerns related to personal data privacy in the U.S. and Japan. As a way to assess the degree to which digital privacy and personal data breaches have adversely influenced …

Analysis Of The Commercial Real Estate Market In A Post Covid-19 World, Brandon Croom, Sean Kennedy, Sandesh Ojha, Justin Sparks
SMU Data Science Review
The volatility in the commercial real estate market has been greatly influenced by the new societal practices brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has added additional factors to already complex modeling to value and predict commercial real estate prices. Although multiple methodologies have been applied to commercial real estate valuation, these methods have not yet taken the COVID-19 pandemic factor into account. The main contribution of this article lies in developing an application for commercial real estate valuation which includes the COVID-19 pandemic factor. Thought this article a Hedonic model was developed to compare the impacts of …

Economic Contributions Of Winter Sports In A Changing Climate, Hagenstad Consulting, Inc., Elizabeth Burakowski, Rebecca Hill
Earth Systems Research Center
In mountain towns across the United States that rely on winter tourism, snow is
currency. For snow lovers and the winter sports industry, predictions of a future with
warmer winters, reduced snowfall, and shorter snow seasons is inspiring them to
innovate, increase their own efforts to address emissions, and speak publicly on the
urgent need for action.
This report examines the economic contribution of winter snow sports tourism to
U.S. national and state-level economies. In a 2012 analysis, Protect Our Winters and
the Natural Resources Defense Council found that the winter sports tourism industry
generates $12.2 billion and 23 million …

Dod Cyber Technology Policies To Secure Automated Information Systems, Maurice E. Dawson Jr., Miguel Crespo, Stephen Brewster
Maurice Dawson
Availability, integrity, and confidentiality (AIC) is a key theme everywhere as cyber security has become more than an emerging topic. The Department of Defense (DoD) has implemented multiple processes such as the Department of Defense information assurance certification and accreditation process (DIACAP), common criteria (CC), and created proven baselines to include information assurance (IA) controls to protect information system (IS) resources. The aim of this research study shall provide insight to the applicable processes, IA controls, and standards to include providing a method for selecting necessary government models and for system development.

The ability to harness energy is fundamental to economic and social development. Worldwide, almost 3 billion people have little or no access to beneficial energy resources for cooking, heating, water sanitation, illumination, transportation, or basic mechanical needs. Energy poverty exacerbates ill health and economic hardship, and reduces educational opportunities, particularly for women and children. Specifically, access to efficient and affordable energy services is a prerequisite for achieving the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) relating to poverty eradication.

Analysis Of Bank Failure And Size Of Assets, Guancun Zhong
Analysis Of Bank Failure And Size Of Assets, Guancun Zhong
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
The financial health of the banking industry is an important prerequisite for economic stability and growth. Bank failures in the United States have run in cycles largely associated with the collapse of economic bubbles. The number of bank failures has increased dramatically over the last thirty years (Halling and Hayden, 2007). In this thesis, we try to address the following two questions: 1) What is the relationship, if any, between a bank's asset size and its likelihood of failures? 2) How can we use statistical tools to predict the numbers of bank failures in the future? Various modeling techniques are …
