The newly formed University of Maine System Data Governance program was launched to improve the System's capacity to collect information and deploy resources in service to the students and in response to Maine's dire demographic and workforce challenges.
The UMS campuses and administrative units make up a complex system that requires a strategic approach to data collection and analysis. From understanding the intricacies of distance education and online programs, to aligning human resource and financial department codes, unified data governance is essential to ensuring the integrity and reliability of the University of Maine System's data.

Rediscovering The Interpersonal: Models Of Networked Communication In New Media Performance, Alicia Champlin

This paper examines the themes of human perception and participation within the contemporary paradigm and relates the hallmarks of the major paradigm shift which occurred in the mid-20th century from a structural view of the world to a systems view. In this context, the author’s creative practice is described, outlining a methodology for working with the communication networks and interpersonal feedback loops that help to define our relationships to each other and to media since that paradigm shift. Immersed In Fire: The Use Of Virtual Reality As An Attitude Assessor And Boundary Object In Wildland Fire Management, Casey Olechnowicz

Interest in using prescribed burning as a forest management tool to promote forest health and regeneration is growing in Maine. The goal for this research was to better understand the way that the public perceives prescribed burning practices in wildland-urban interfaces, with an emphasis placed on how immersive imagery, closely related to virtual reality (VR), compares to traditional communication methods. We specifically focus on the social acceptability of prescribed burning and analyze how the level of immersive imagery is related to that acceptability (Ahn, 2015; Bricken, 1990; Fogg, Cuellar, and Danielson, 2009; Smith 2015; Wiederhold, Davis, and Wiederhold, 1998). Robert E. Jensen was born in Iowa in 1938. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Denver in 1961 with an M.B.A. in accounting, he received a Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1966. He was a Certified Public Accountant and taught at the University of Denver, Stanford University, and Michigan State University. He came to the University of Maine at Orono in 1968 as the Nicolas M. Salgo Professor in the College of Business Administration.
In 1971-1972 Jensen was selected as a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University where he …
