Genealogical Vs Phylogenetic Mutation Rates: Answering A Challenge, Robert Carter Dec 2023

Genealogical Vs Phylogenetic Mutation Rates: Answering A Challenge, Robert Carter

Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism

There is a discrepancy between the mutation rate we can measure today and the rate at which evolution is supposed to have proceeded. The former is sometimes called the genealogical mutation rate, for it is obtained by comparing individuals whom we know to be related. The latter is sometimes called the phylogenetic mutation rate. It is calculated by counting the fixed differences between two species and dividing by the estimated time since their common ancestor. Genealogical mutation rates are generally several orders of magnitude faster than phylogenetic estimates. This causes problems for the evolutionary model. For example, using the genealogical …

Bio-Ethics From Image Of God And Soul, Doug Kennard Oct 2020

Bio-Ethics From Image Of God And Soul, Doug Kennard

Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism

Faced with the near unanimity of biblical anthropology among biblical theology (Botterweck & Ringgren, 1974–2006; Brown, 1975; Harris, Archer, & Waltke, 1980; Kittle & Friedrich, 1964–1976; VanGemeren, 1997), I propose an analysis of the biblical words and concepts, focusing on: (1) “image of God” and (2) “soul.” This approach results in a functionalism, which I call a multi-faceted unity. I propose to extend these biblical theology categories into the field of bio-ethics for implications. This approach is in contrast to some Christian bio-ethicists who start from the field of philosophy or biology and tack some devotional elements of the Bible …

A Nuanced Lakatos Philosophy Of Theology And Science, Doug Kennard Oct 2020

A Nuanced Lakatos Philosophy Of Theology And Science, Doug Kennard

Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism

A Lakatos philosophy of science fosters nuanced precision within critical realism, recognizing that falsification of any theory (for example, evolution) does not occur without providing a better theory.

Imre Lakatos articulated a moderate foundational rational model of derivation in the philosophy of mathematics and science that utilized Peircian pragmatism to encourage its productivity and to make sense of paradigm change. Lakatos proposes a sophisticated falsification view that encourages helpful development, because, “There is no falsification before the emergence of a better theory.” Thus a creationist model needs to focus on crafting better theories or creationist models will never be seriously …

Testing Classical Interactions Between Finite Particles As A Model Of Nuclear Structure, Edward A. Boudreaux, Eric C. Baxter Oct 2020

Testing Classical Interactions Between Finite Particles As A Model Of Nuclear Structure, Edward A. Boudreaux, Eric C. Baxter

Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism

A finite dimensional model for the electron and proton has been used to compute nuclear properties such as: structure, binding energies, energies and rates of decay of radioactive isotopes.

Computations were conducted within the frame of classical electromagnetic interactions between toroidal electrons and protons of finite, fixed dimensions. Positions and orientations of each particle were allowed to vary using the variational method, until the minimum energy configuration was attained.

Nucleon shell structures were found to build from outer levels toward inner ones, with occupancies following the magic numbers so well known in nuclear physics. Neutrons were found to be formed …

Man, Machine, Scientific Models And Creation Science, Steven M. Gollmer Jul 2018

Man, Machine, Scientific Models And Creation Science, Steven M. Gollmer

Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism

Historically, physics was the most quantitative of the sciences. Geologists and biologists built their models based on observation, categorization and generalization. This distinction between qualitative and quantitative sciences prompted the quote attributed to Ernest Rutherford that “All science is either physics or stamp collecting.” In the intervening 80 years all sciences have exploded in the use of quantitative measures to find patterns and trends in data. A review of a half-century of creationist literature shows that this transition has not been lost to the creationist community.

As this trend continues to accelerate, two areas of caution need to be taken …
