Data On Gc/Ms Elution Profile, 1h And 13c Nmr Spectra Of 1-, 3-, And 6-Nitrobenzo[A]Pyrenes, Kefa Karimu Onchoke Jan 2020

Data On Gc/Ms Elution Profile, 1h And 13c Nmr Spectra Of 1-, 3-, And 6-Nitrobenzo[A]Pyrenes, Kefa Karimu Onchoke

Faculty Publications

The data presented in this article is related to the research article entitled, “13C NMR Chemical Shift Assignments of Nitrated Benzo[a]pyrenes based on Two-dimensional Techniques and DFT/GIAO Calculations”, Kefa K. Onchoke, PeerJ., . The NMR spectral profiles of nitrated benzo[a]pyrenes is presented. Further, the article describes elution profiles of 1-, 3- and 6-NBaP, the acquisition of 1H and 13C NMR data and the J-Coupling constants (which are useful for the assignment of peaks via 2D HMQC and HMBC techniques). The data presented is useful for developing structure-activity relationships for other nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (NPAHs)

Exhaled Breath Analysis Of Smokers Using Cmv-Gc/Ms, D'Nisha D. Hamblin May 2016

Exhaled Breath Analysis Of Smokers Using Cmv-Gc/Ms, D'Nisha D. Hamblin

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The aim of this research was to demonstrate the potential of the novel pre-concentration device, capillary microextraction of volatiles (CMV), for breath analysis. The CMV offers dynamic sampling of volatile organic compounds with its simple coupling to a GC inlet for GC/MS analysis, avoiding expensive thermal desorption instrumentation needed for sorbent tubes, as well as an increased surface area over a single SPME fiber. CMV collectively identified 119 compounds in the breath of 13 self-reported smokers and 7 nonsmokers. The presence and intensity of twelve compounds were used to classify all the nonsmokers 100% of the time using Principal Component …

Quechers (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, And Safe) Extraction – Gas Chromatography For The Analysis Of Drugs, Michelle L. Schmidt May 2015

Quechers (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, And Safe) Extraction – Gas Chromatography For The Analysis Of Drugs, Michelle L. Schmidt

Seton Hall University Dissertations and Theses (ETDs)

QuEChERS (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) is an extraction technique developed by Anastassiades and co-workers initially for the extraction of veterinary drugs from animal tissue. Since its inception, it was discovered that this method is particularly adept for the extraction of polar and basic compounds, thus the majority of research previously performed using QuEChERS involves the extraction of pesticides from various matrices, especially fruits, vegetables, and other food products. Combining a liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and a dispersive solid phase extraction (d-SPE) clean up, QuEChERS provides a clean sample for analysis by gas chromatography (GC) or liquid chromatography (LC) …

Applications Of Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry And Capillary Electrophoresis For The Analysis Of Lignocellulosic Biomass Pretreatment, Dawn M. Kato Jan 2014

Applications Of Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry And Capillary Electrophoresis For The Analysis Of Lignocellulosic Biomass Pretreatment, Dawn M. Kato

Theses and Dissertations--Chemistry

The focus of this dissertation centers on the development and applications of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis methodologies to quantify monomeric compositions of the β-O-4 linkages in lignin. Pretreatment is a required step in the utilization of lignocellulosic biomass for biofuels. Lignin is the target of pretreatment because it hinders the accessibility of enzymes and chemicals to cellulose. The effects of pretreatment are commonly assessed utilizing enzymatic saccharification and lignin assays. However, these techniques do not elucidate the effects of pretreatment on the monomeric make up of lignin.

The overarching hypothesis of this dissertation is that changes in individual …

The Construction And Optimization On An Ion Mobility Spectrometer For The Analysis Of Explosives And Drugs, Hanh Tuyet Lai Feb 2010

The Construction And Optimization On An Ion Mobility Spectrometer For The Analysis Of Explosives And Drugs, Hanh Tuyet Lai

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Today, over 15,000 Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) analyzers are employed at worldwide security checkpoints to detect explosives and illicit drugs. Current portal IMS instruments and other electronic nose technologies detect explosives and drugs by analyzing samples containing the headspace air and loose particles residing on a surface. Canines can outperform these systems at sampling and detecting the low vapor pressure explosives and drugs, such as RDX, PETN, cocaine, and MDMA, because these biological detectors target the volatile signature compounds available in the headspace rather than the non-volatile parent compounds of explosives and drugs. In this dissertation research volatile signature compounds …
