Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), formerly known as diastolic heart failure, is a chronic disease that affects millions of people around the world. HFpEF has no cure and can only be managed with therapeutic treatments that optimize cardiac function and quality of life (Gazewood & Turner, 2017). The condition is precipitated by several systemic, myocardial, infiltrative, and pericardial diseases that overwhelmingly ail the aging population.
