Background: Multiple factors have created a perfect storm of health care provider shortages in the United States. Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), long established as high-quality, cost-effective health care providers, are meeting health care needs across the nation in a variety of settings, and in Wisconsin will be needed to augment the primary care workforce. With 5.7% of its registered nurses credentialed as APRNs, Wisconsin lags behind the national average of 8.7%. However, current capacity to educate this workforce is strained, requiring innovative data-driven clinical education models. More than 25 years ago, the name "Friends of Nursing" was adopted by an academic, community Magnet(®) hospital to signify a model for community support of nursing. From inception, the intent was to recruit philanthropic dollars to promote recognition of and excellence in nursing practice, education, and research. Shaping The Future Of Nursing Education In Ireland, Pauline Joyce

This paper presents core principles of curriculum design. These principles were used as categories following analysis of submissions made to the Nursing Education Forum in Ireland between 1999/2000. This forum was established following a Commission on Nursing, set up to examine the future of nursing in Ireland. The transition from curriculum design to curriculum development is considered and a summary of curriculum activities is outlined. The paper concludes by presenting questions to focus further discussion.
