Holographic Sensors For The Detection Of Liquid Phase Analytes, Sabad-E Gul Dec 2019

Holographic Sensors For The Detection Of Liquid Phase Analytes, Sabad-E Gul

Doctoral

The aim of this project is to design, fabricate and study experimentally photonic structures created by holographic lithography for application in sensing. The aim is to modify the photonic structures with analyte sensitive materials and view of their application in environmental and biomedical sensing. Two types of photonic structures were investigated in these studies: modified surface relief holographic gratings and volume holographic gratings.

Resistance exercise bands are a core component of any physical activity strengthening program. Strength training can mitigate the development of sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass or strength and function with aging. Yet, the adherence of such behavioral exercise strategies in a home-based setting are fraught with issues of monitoring and compliance. Our group developed a Bluetooth-enabled resistance exercise band capable of transmitting data to an open-source platform. In this work, we developed an application to capture this information in real-time, and conducted three usability studies in two mixed-aged groups of participants (n=6 each) and a group of older adults …

Objectives This study evaluated the Integrated Behavioral Model and examined oral self‐care behavior of community‐dwelling middle‐aged and older people. Design A cross‐sectional design was used. Sample Purposive sampling was employed to recruit middle and older age community‐dwelling individuals, with research locations in public health centers in northern Taiwan. Measurements Structured questionnaires comprised: participant demographics, oral health literacy, oral self‐care attitude, self‐efficacy, intention, and behavior, and significant others' perceptions and beliefs as well as environmental constraints. The Model verification was evaluated by path analysis. Results Two hundred and sixty‐three participants (N = 263) completed the questionnaire survey. Results identified significant direct …
