Preparation And Evaluation Of Single-Stranded Dna Aptamer-Based Immunological Adjuvant In Broiler Chickens, Adil Sabr Al-Ogaili

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Mineral oils and metal salts are commonly used as adjuvants to enhance acquired immunity. Recently, monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) and recombinant peptides agonist CD40 receptor have shown remarkable promise for induction of rapid and robust immune responses. Limitations of this approach MAb production costs and multiple administrations due to anti-MAb immune responses. Here we demonstrate the development of a unique and sophisticated DNA aptamer-based alternative for CD40-directed delivery of universal antigens as an alternative in chickens, and potentially other vertebrate species. This receptor, expressed by antigen-presenting cells, acts as a costimulatory molecule for activated T helper lymphocytes. After initially selecting for …

Efficacy Of Live Ndv Vaccine Simultaneously Vaccinated With Recombinant Hvt-Ndv Vaccine On Early Protection Against Newcastle Disease Virus Challenge, Nataya Charoenvisal, Jiroj Sasipreeyajan Mar 2019

Efficacy Of Live Ndv Vaccine Simultaneously Vaccinated With Recombinant Hvt-Ndv Vaccine On Early Protection Against Newcastle Disease Virus Challenge, Nataya Charoenvisal, Jiroj Sasipreeyajan

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The objective of this study was to determine the efficacy of the recombinant herpes virus of turkey-Newcastle disease virus (rHVT-NDV) vaccine against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) challenged in 14 days old broiler chickens. One hundred chickens were divided into 5 groups of 20 chickens each. Group 1 chickens received live NDV vaccine via the intra-nasal route. Group 2 chickens received rHVT-NDV vaccine by subcutaneous injection. Group 3 chickens, received both live NDV and rHVT-NDV vaccine. Groups 4 and 5 chickens did not receive any vaccine and served as positive and negative control groups. At 14 days old, all the chickens …

Effect Of A Rapid Heat Treatment On Thai Qx-Like Infectious Bronchitis Virus And Evaluation Of Protection Induced By A Heat-Treated Virus, Tawatchai Pohuang, Sucheeva Junnu Mar 2019

Effect Of A Rapid Heat Treatment On Thai Qx-Like Infectious Bronchitis Virus And Evaluation Of Protection Induced By A Heat-Treated Virus, Tawatchai Pohuang, Sucheeva Junnu

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a rapid heat-treatment method on Thai QX-like infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) and the efficacy on protection from the virus after heat treatment. QX-like IBV isolate THA46 was incubated at 56 oC. The incubated virus was collected every 5 min for up to 1 h and then they were inoculated into embryonated chicken eggs. At 6 days post-inoculation, allantoic fluid was harvested from the embryonated eggs which were inoculated with virus of the longest heat-treatment time that induced lesions in the embryos. That allantoic fluid was used in a subsequent …

Evaluation Of The In Vivo Efficacy Of Pumpkin (Cucurbita Pepo) Seeds Against Gastrointestinal Helminths Of Chickens, Jezie A. Acorda, Imma Ysabela Emille C. Mangubat, Billy P. Divina Jan 2019

Evaluation Of The In Vivo Efficacy Of Pumpkin (Cucurbita Pepo) Seeds Against Gastrointestinal Helminths Of Chickens, Jezie A. Acorda, Imma Ysabela Emille C. Mangubat, Billy P. Divina

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The present study was conducted to evaluate the in vivo efficacy of pumpkin seeds as an alternative natural anthelmintic for chickens. Ninety Philippine Jolo native chickens of mixed sexes, aged 4?5 months and weighing 1?2 kg, were randomly distributed into three treatment groups with 30 chickens per group. Control group A was fed basic mash feed, group B received feed mixed with ground pumpkin seeds (2 g/bird per day), and group C received mebendazole-medicated feed (30 mg/kg body weight). Fifteen randomly selected chickens from each group were euthanized and necropsied before treatment, and the remaining fifteen in each group were …

Genetic Analysis Of Iranian Mycoplasma Gallisepticum Isolates Using Gene-Targeted Sequencing Of Complete Pvpa Gene, Naghmeh Kabiri, Mohsen Bashashati, Mehdi Vasfi Marandi, Mansour Banani, Fereshteh Sabouri

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study aims to evaluate Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) genetic diversity through the complete sequencing of the pvpA gene among six MG isolates present in industrial poultry from 2015 to 2016. The genetic comparison of these six isolates showed similarities of over 94% and 92% in terms of nucleotide and amino acid sequences, respectively. The size of the PvpA protein in the studied isolates included three different sizes with 361, 364, and 366 amino acids. The carboxy-terminus of the studied PvpA proteins contained 11 tetrapeptides of P-R-P-M/Q/N motifs with truncation in the proline-rich region. Based on the BLAST analysis, the pvpA …
