This study was carried out to investigate the fattening and carcass characteristics of German Blackheaded Mutton (GBM) x Awassi (A) F1, Hampshire Down (HD) x A (F1) and HD x (HD x A) B1 male lambs. Nine GBM x A (F1), eight (HD) x A (F1) and eight HD x (HD x A) B1 male lambs were used for fattening traits, and six of each breed for carcass traits. The lambs were fed, from the beginning at approximately 20 kg of live weights to the finish at 45 kg, alfalfa hay 100 g/head/day and concentrates ad libitum. For statistical analysis, …

This study was carried out to investigate the fattening performance, slaughter and carcass characteristics of White Karaman and Chios x White Karaman (F_1 ) crossbred lambs. The data for the study were obtained from 11 purebred and 12 (6 from each genotype) ram lambs for determination of slaughter and carcass characteristics. Lambs were fed alfalfa hay and concentrates ad libitum in the fattening period. All ram lambs with a live weight of 20 kg were fattened in the same pen until they reached 45 kg live weight and afterwards they were slaughtered for investigation of carcass characteristics. The effects of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% dried poultry excreta supplementation on rumen fermentation and blood parameters in Akkaraman lambs were investigated in the control group, group I, group II and group III respectively. Twenty-six Akkaraman lambs, 5.5-6 months-old, weighing 30 kg were used. They were fed in four groups. The blood and rumen contents were determined at 20-day intervals and the experimental period lasted 80 days. At the 20 th day, there were a significant differences among the four groups in pH, ammonia, urease activity, total volatile fatty acids and urea-N values of ruminal fluid. However, there were …
