This study sought to evaluate the periodontal change after initial treatment (hygeinic phase) by means of probing pocket depth and clinical attachment level. The decreasing in pocket depth and the gain of attachment level were statistically analized by analysis of variance (ANOVA). After initial treatment, 98% of the patients showed the decreasing in pocket depth while only 80% of them demonstrated the attachment gain. The clinical improvment in the different groups of severity sites of probing depth 3, 4, 5 and ≥ 6 mm. from 3232 sites were examined.
