This study engages in phenomenological qualitative research, focusing on three North Korean defectors residing in the United States. The research comprised six sessions, each lasting ninety minutes. These sessions involved the active participation of the subjects in six face-to-face group art therapy (AT) sessions, adhering to the six guidelines outlined in the Amita Treatment Framework (ATF). These sessions encompassed the following components: 1) analyzing self-image; 2) finding positive qualities; 3) identifying challenges; 4) behaviors driven by emotions in challenging situations; 5) reframing challenges; and 6) reconstructing self-image and goal setting.

This single-participant phenomenological case study seeks to determine how a female combat veteran experiences art therapy. The case study participant is a female veteran who served in Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. While painting on a single canvas, the participant followed Miller’s El Duende process painting procedure (2012) and kept a written and pictorial journal of the experience. The research involved five sessions during which the participant annotated her thoughts and feelings on the experiential expressions chart for each session. Generalized Joint Hypermobility (GJH), in lay terms being “double-jointed”, affects 5 to 43 percent of the general population. In severe forms, GJH impacts systems across the body, with cardiovascular, ocular, and musculoskeletal effects that can be quite debilitating. Most of the literature examining GJH is in this severely impacted group of people. However less severe forms of GJH are present in the athlete population in the same proportions, and athletes with GJH are more likely to be injured while participating in activities. Problem The commencement of intimate partner violence (IPV) often begins with relationships during adolescence and young adulthood; hence, young age is a risk factor. Young adult females, pregnant and post-partum adolescents are at high risk of experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV).

Methods A prospective, descriptive design evaluating the impact of three IPV education sessions offered over a three-month period at a non-profit shelter specific for young adult, pregnant and post-partum adolescents.

This thesis project served to develop harm-reduction strategies for the Panhellenic sorority community at the University of South Carolina and evaluate their effectiveness. These initiatives began with a focus on the 1,445 new members that accepted sorority bids in August 2019 and expanded to include initiated members, resulting in 4,414 total members being included in this project. Multiple strategies were implemented, including new member surveys, peer-led discussions, mentor education, alternative sober events, online risk assessments, and harm reduction interventions before high-risk events. Background: Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infection worldwide. Chlamydia trachomatis is a bacterium that is commonly asymptomatic but highly curable with antibiotics if treated early. Without treatment, chlamydia can cause pelvic inflammatory disease and uterine scarring for women, which can lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancies. It can also be a precursor for cervical cancer and endometriosis in women, and potentially transferred to offspring during childbirth. Opportunistic prescreening and screening in urgent care can increase appropriate diagnosis of chlamydia that potentially would be missed or incorrectly dismissed as solely a urinary tract infection.

This study strived to inquire about females’ perspectives of learning to mountain biking. Through an online survey, the present study explored the constraints (White, 2008) that keep women from trying the sport. Respondents (N=150) answered an online survey. Results of this study will be useful for outdoor education professionals, parks and recreation programming, cycling advocacy organizations, and any who make marketing materials for the outdoor industry. The study is designed to provide a description of the female perspectives regarding constraints and motivation towards learning to mountain bike.
