Medication administration is an inherent nursing task, placing nurses at significant risk for experiencing errors. A systematic literature review established that nurses experience emotional, cognitive, and physical distress effects following medication errors, positioning nurses as second victims. The purpose of the DNP Capstone Project was to evaluate the lived experiences and coping responses of pediatric direct-care nurses working in a Rocky Mountain region tertiary care facility to assess whether the nurses have unmet post-event support needs. The Veterans Administration (VA) recognizes that proficiency in the core concepts of primary care women's health is required to provide comprehensive primary care for women. A potentially superior form of training that has been recently used for care providers is simulation. The examination of the relationship between simulation training through the Mini-Residency Course and increased self-efficacy among Women's Health Primary Care Providers (WH-PCP) is important, as the Mini-Residency Course is designed specifically to fill knowledge gaps and enhance the participant's knowledge and skill.

The goal of this project was to decrease the psychosocial distress level in patients receiving chemotherapy. The primary objective of this evidence-based practice project was to decrease distress in oncology patients. Executive Summary: This hepatitis C virus knowledge improvement capstone project is an evidence base practice educational intervention project in a military setting. Problem It is estimated that 3.2 to 4.1 million persons are living with chronic hepatitis C and that 4.2 million to 5.1 million people are antibody positive in the United States. Hepatitis C virus accounted for approximately 15,000 infections and 8,000 to 10,000-deaths annually. Providing safe high quality care for patients with chest tubes by nursing students requires not only lecture and demonstration but also the use of simulation. Simulation allows for the students to practice in a non-threatening environment without harming any patients. The data was compiled to evaluate the effectiveness of the theory and simulation in terms of enhancing the knowledge level of chest tube management. Thirteen students participated in the study. The purpose of this DNP Capstone project was to determine if education of the M Nursing Professional Practice Model had an effect on customer satisfaction of nursing indicators in the Emergency Department (ED). The facility's newly developed M Model Nursing Professional Practice Model (MNPPM) which used the theoretical underpinning of Meehan's Careful nursing model (2003, 2012) was utilized as the nursing model. Multiple myeloma is the second leading cause of hematological malignancies in the United States. Bortezomib is a chemotherapy agent effective in the treatment of all stages of multiple myeloma. Bortezomib administered by the subcutaneous (SC) route is as efficacious as the intravenous (IV) route. However, the literature does not describe how the drug was to be administered SC. This project addressed the ongoing procedural competency assessment of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), and included the development and implementation of an online review module and application of a standardized format for evaluation of NNP procedural performance. The question addressed was: Is the completion of on online module effective review for NNPs for neonatal thoracostomy by needle aspiration as evaluated by the Leicester Clinical Assessment Tool (LCAT) comparable or better than a standardized textbook review?

Patients who were admitted to the hospital and had inpatient status considered for the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient satisfaction survey. Inclusion criteria for the study population were if the patient was not a newborn, deceased, a ward of the state, or a No Publicity patient. Dosage calculation examinations were administered to nursing students entering the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program in the northeastern area of the United Stat (U.S.). Historically, nursing students have verbalized anxiety about the dosage calculation examinations given every semester. Dosage calculation exams were successfully completed when the nursing student achieved a score of 90 % or greater by the third attempt. Scores on the dosage calculation exams have been found to range from 30% to 95% correct on the first attempt. Variables related to cancer-related fatigue were studied. Adults over the age of 18 who were actively undergoing cancer treatment in a rural, outpatient clinic were included in the study. The purpose of this project was to assess fatigue levels of patients who are undergoing cancer treatment. The Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-F) questionnaire was administered to participants and their scores were used to compare variables significance to cancer-related fatigue. The purpose of the capstone project was to explore the efficacy of the ATAQ to assess for asthma control at each patient encounter. In addition, addressing asthma control at each care visit would improve asthma outcomes by implementing education that promotes asthma self-management. The goal of the capstone project was to improve asthma control assessment in the primary care setting and provide asthma education for children and the caregiver to improve asthma outcomes.
