Which Sequence Should Be Used In The Thorax Magnetic Resonance Imaging Of Covid-19: A Comparative Study, Ayşe Şule Ateş, Burak Yağdiran, Onur Taydaş, Ömer Faruk Ateş

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background and aim: To evaluate and compare magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences that could potentially be used in the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Materials and methods: Included in the study were 42 patient who underwent thorax computed tomography (CT) for COVID-19 pneumonia and thorax MRI for any reason within 24 h after CT. The T2-weighted fast spin echo periodically rotated overlapping parallel lines with enhanced reconstruction (PROPELLER) (T2W-FSE-P), fast imaging employing steady-state acquisition, T2 fat-saturated FSE, axial T1 liver acquisition with volume acceleration (LAVA) and single-shot FSE images were compared in terms of their ability to show COVID-19 …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of a new quantitative index for the diagnosis of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus. Materials and methods: This retrospective study was conducted at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty between January 2016 and November 2022. A total of 31 patients diagnosed with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus were included in the study group and 48 patients were included in the control group. Measurement via the new Index was performed on a coronal section of magnetic resonance imaging at the level of the anterior commissure. Results: The new Index's mean diagnostic performance was …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Texture analysis (TA) provides additional tissue heterogeneity data that may assist in differentiating peripheral zone (PZ) lesions in multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI). This study investigates the role of magnetic resonance imaging texture analysis (MRTA) in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) in the PZ. Materials and methods: This retrospective study included 80 consecutive patients who had an mpMRI and a prostate biopsy for sus- pected prostate cancer. Two radiologists in consensus interpreted mpMRI and performed texture analysis based on their histopathology. The first-, second-, and higher-order texture parameters were extracted from mpMRI and were compared between groups. Univariate …
