Left Lateral Liver Lobe Torsion In A Siamese Cat, Dongwook Kim, Ki-Jeong Na, Dongwoo Chang, Gonhyung Kim

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A 6-year-old neutered male Siamese cat was presented with an acute onset of vomiting, anorexia and lethargy lasting for four days. An abdominal mass was palpated on physical examination. The cat showed severe anemia, elevated liver enzymes and hypoalbuminemia. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a suspected hepatic mass without blood flow within the affected region. Computed tomography was performed to better visualize the abdominal cavity and blood flow. Prompt diagnosis of torsion of the left lateral liver lobe was made and immediate surgery for liver lobectomy was performed. Histopathological examination revealed no evidence of neoplasia. The cat remained clinically normal during the …

The Use Of B-Scan Coupling With A-Scan Ultrasonography To Characterize Ocular Biometry In Canine Absolute Glaucoma, Napasorn Ngamrojanavanit, Natthaporn Tanthasathien, Nirachon Srisamai, Suchaya Taotongnuntasin, Panrawee Phoomvuthisarn, Nalinee Tuntivanich Sep 2019

The Use Of B-Scan Coupling With A-Scan Ultrasonography To Characterize Ocular Biometry In Canine Absolute Glaucoma, Napasorn Ngamrojanavanit, Natthaporn Tanthasathien, Nirachon Srisamai, Suchaya Taotongnuntasin, Panrawee Phoomvuthisarn, Nalinee Tuntivanich

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

This study was to investigate intraocular structures of canine absolute glaucomatous eyes using real time B-scan ultrasonography in accordance with the amplitude mode. Ten normal eyes and twenty absolute glaucomatous eyes were included in this study. Ocular biometry via closed-eye technique was performed usingthe Ultrascan®Imaging System (Alcon Surgical Laboratory,Fort Worth, USA), with a 10 MHz mechanical sector probe. Changes of intraocular structures were descriptively analyzed. Ocular biometry was measured, statistically analyzed and compared between both groups. While mean lens thickness was comparable betweennormotensive and glaucomatous eyes, mean lens equatorial length was higher in the latter group. Increased hyperechogenicity of lens …

A Feasibility Of Ultrasonographic Assessment For Femoral Trochlear Depth And Articular Cartilage Thickness In Canine Cadavers, Phuangporn Boonchaikitanan, Nan Choisunirachon, Kumpanart Soontornvipart Sep 2019

A Feasibility Of Ultrasonographic Assessment For Femoral Trochlear Depth And Articular Cartilage Thickness In Canine Cadavers, Phuangporn Boonchaikitanan, Nan Choisunirachon, Kumpanart Soontornvipart

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Trochleoplastyor trochlear groove deepening is one of surgical correction techniques for patellar luxation (PL) that caused cartilage alterations of the distal femur and this technique may not be always necessary. To evaluate trochlear groove for PL correction preoperative planning, several diagnostic image techniques have been applied. In this study, ultrasonography (USG) was introduced in the trochlear evaluation as pre-operative planning because it’s user-friendly and radiationless. USG imaging of 22 distal femurs from small breed of canine cadavers were evaluated for trochlear groove depth (TGD) and trochlear cartilage thicknesses (CT) at medial condyle (MCCT), femoral groove (FGCT) and lateral condyle (LCCT), …

Comparative Ultrasonographic And Computed Tomographic Images Of The Adrenal Glands Of Healthy Cats, Panrawee Phoomvuthisarn, Kiatpichet Komin, Nan Choisunirachon Dec 2018

Comparative Ultrasonographic And Computed Tomographic Images Of The Adrenal Glands Of Healthy Cats, Panrawee Phoomvuthisarn, Kiatpichet Komin, Nan Choisunirachon

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Feline adrenal disorders that affect the size of the adrenal glands can be detected by diagnostic imaging including ultrasonography and Computed Tomography (CT). The objectives of this study were to compare the appearance of the adrenal gland in healthy cats between these two techniques and establish the reference values of the CT dimensions of the adrenal gland in cats. We found that there was no significant difference in the length of both adrenal glands between the two techniques but the cranial and caudal heights of the left adrenal glands and cranial height of the right adrenal gland obtained from the …

A Morphological Study And Diagnotic Ultrasonography Of Asian Elephant Kidney, Wimon Pothiwong, Phiwipha Kamonrat, Pawana Uthaichotiwan, Pakorn Prachammuang, Sumolya Kanchanapangka Dec 2003

A Morphological Study And Diagnotic Ultrasonography Of Asian Elephant Kidney, Wimon Pothiwong, Phiwipha Kamonrat, Pawana Uthaichotiwan, Pakorn Prachammuang, Sumolya Kanchanapangka

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Kidneys from a forty year old, female, Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) were subjected to a gross anatomical study (measurements, dissection, parasagittal sections and photography), histological examination, and ultrasonographic images. The kidney had an elliptical to ovoid shape with a size of 32x21x12 centimeters (length, width, and thickness). It was of multilobar or multipyramidal type, composed of 8 lobes, closely placed and separated by interlobar septae, some of which were perforated by minor interruptions. Each lobe had one calyx, connected to its secondary infundibulum which converged into two primary infundibula, one each on end of the renal sinus. The 2 primary …

Transitional Cell Carcinoma Of The Urinary Bladder In A Dog : A Case Report, Chollada Buranakarl, Phiwipha Kamonrat, Rachod Tantilertcharoen Mar 1998

Transitional Cell Carcinoma Of The Urinary Bladder In A Dog : A Case Report, Chollada Buranakarl, Phiwipha Kamonrat, Rachod Tantilertcharoen

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A urinary bladder mass was diagnosed in a 14-year-old uncastrated male mixed breed dog presented to the Small Animal Teaching Hospital, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Chulalongkorn University. The dog had periodic hematuria which had been present for eight months without any abnormalities on complete blood count and all other blood chemistry. Radiographic examination revealed a prostate gland enlargement with evidence of irregular thickening of the urinary bladder mucosa without any cystic calculi. Antibiotics and hemostatic drugs were given and hematuria ceased periodically. With a history of concurrent hematuria and an elevation of both blood urea nitrogen (109 mg%) and creatinine …
