Verruciform xanthoma (VX) is a benign epithelial proliferation typically found on the masticatory mucosa. VX usually affects patients in their 5 th to 6 th decade of life. VX is treated with simple excision with a low chance of recurrence after surgery.

A novel method using a 3D intraoral scanner (IOS) is used to overcome difficulties in obtaining conventional impressions to fabricate an obturator for a posteriorly located oronasal fistula secondary to chronic nasal cocaine use.

Adenoid ameloblastoma with dentinoid (AAD) is a rare benign neoplasm of odontogenic epithelium, with under 50 cases having been reported in the literature. AAD shares histopathological characteristics with both ameloblastomas and adenomatoid odontogenic tumors. They are unique because of dentinoid deposition without enamel. We present a case of AAD in the maxilla of a 13 year old. The patient was treated with left infrastructure maxillectomy and left partial infratemporal fossa dissection. This case reports on an extremely rare disease process in an uncommon location in a pediatric patient.

Oral cancer resections cause tissue defects which result in functional complications such as masticatory dysfunction, dysphagia, articulation and phonation issues. When the defect involves the maxillary arch, obturation is needed whether it be surgical or prosthetic. In cases where surgical procedures become ineffective, prosthetic options could be challenging. This is a case of a 78-year-old male developed the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the right alveolar ridge. The patient underwent partial maxillectomy and right neck dissection with fibula free-flap reconstruction of the maxillary arch. This article addresses a rare postoperative complication of persistent bleeding and “liver clot” coagulum following placement of a permanent tooth pre-formed metal crown, an extraction of a carious permanent molar, and an accelerated exfoliating primary molar in an individual with medical compromise, all in young patients. Mild bleeding following dental procedures or tooth exfoliation is not an unusual occurrence; however, persistent bleeding is an uncommon event for patients. The aim of the present study is to determine the prevalence and demographics of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) condylar changes in the asymptomatic general population of a hospital based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) practice. We retrospectively reviewed cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of 272 TMJs from 136 consecutive patients to detect osteophyte, subchondral cyst, sclerosis, cortical erosions, and flattening. While gender did not appear to play a significant role in TMJ pathology, age was positively correlated with prevalence of condylar changes. People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH) have an increased life expectancy due to advances in antiretroviral therapy. In 1996, the life expectancy for a 20-year old living with HIV was 39-years old; today, it is >70-years old. As life expectancy increases, PLWH are burdened with age-associated comorbidities. This paper reviews the interaction between aging and HIV and how it affects social, physical, and oral health issues. The shift in demographics presents new challenges for clinicians in how to identify, address, and manage these complex manifestations. This review summarizes how to approach HIV-related changes when providing care as a dental clinician.

An Osteoma Embedding An Ectopic Wisdom Tooth Within The Maxillary Sinus: A Rare Occurrence, Kayvan Fathimani Dds, Facs, Frcd(C), Fibcsoms

Osteomas are frequently reported in the maxillofacial region with much lower incidences in the maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. An unerupted third molar within the maxillary sinus coexisting with a maxillary sinus osteoma is an extremely rare pathologic finding. Such cases can be managed endoscopically or intraorally through a Caldwell-Luc approach. The following case report deals with a patient who presents with an uncommon pathological finding: an osteoma embedding an ectopic tooth within the maxillary sinus.

Aim: To compare the clinical outcomes of platelet-derived biomaterials, including recombinant human platelet-derived growth factors receptor BB (rhPDGF-BB), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), for treatment of periodontal infra-bony defects. Materials and Methods: A meta-analysis was conducted to compare pocket depth reduction (PRD) and clinical attachment gain (CAG) with and without rhPDGF-BB, PRP or PRF, for surgical treatments of periodontal infra-bony pockets. Eligible studies were randomized controlled clinical trials in adults with periodontal infra-bony defects. The purpose of this study is to determine the student perceptions on teaching methods for first year dental students using zoom to teach didactics and preclinical hand skills. Because of COVID- 19 other means of teaching had to be implemented and classes were held remotely. Our aim is to determine student perceptions on retention, understanding and learning of didactic and preclinical hands on lectures. Students felt that didactic lectures through zoom increased their retention and understanding in learning the material. They felt that pre-clinical hands on lectures through zoom decreased their retention and understanding in learning.
