The aim of this study was to investigate the immediate effects of upper extremity loading exercises on conduction in the median and ulnar nerves in the wrists of hemiplegic patients. Seventeen hemiplegic patients without past history of carpal tunnel syndrome or other confounding diseases and seventeen healthy and physically-matched control subjects were recruited. Nerve conduction tests of the median and ulnar nerves were performed in both arms of patients and healthy controls before and after a set of 30-minute bilateral loading exercise.
