The purpose of this DNP Capstone Project was to explore if participation in a Nurse Residency Program would positively impact the retention rate of the new graduate nurse population, during the initial year of clinical practice in the academic medical center care setting. The goals of the project were to successfully implement a Nurse Residency Program in the academic medical center practice setting, to measure participant satisfaction with the level of support the program would provide during the initial year of practice, and increase the first year retention rate for this population of nurses.
