Comparative Study Between Radical Hysterectomy With Or Without Pelvic Lymphadenectomy For Stage Ii Endometrial Carcinoma, Mohamed Esmat Abdelghany, Ahmed El Sayed Mohamed Abdelrahman, El-Sayed Ragab Mostafa Abdelghany

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: The removal of the uterus by surgical procedures is the standard treatment for endometrial cancer, which is the most common type of malignant gynecological tumor. Surgery for early-stage endometrial cancer often involves a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, with or without bilateral pelvic/para-aortic lymphadenectomy. In some cases, the patient may also have bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy. Aim and objectives: The objective of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of radical hysterectomy with or without pelvic lymphadenectomy in the treatment of stage II endometrial cancer. Both approaches were examined in terms of the adverse effects they produced, as well …

We, herein report our initial experience utilizing TOVET for benign thyroid lesions. Methods: This prospective study was conducted from December 2020 and February 2023, 15 patients with benign thyroid nodules were selected. All patients considered scarless thyroidectomy as their preferred surgical approach and were operated on for TOVET. Clinicopathological data and surgical outcomes were reported. Comparative Study Between Orthotopic Neobladder And Ileal Conduit Diversion For Patients With Cancer Bladder After Radical Cystectomy, Saied Hosny Bendary, Ahmed Alsayed Mohmed, Ahmed Fathy Sayed Ahmed Aly

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Several techniques are employed for urine diversion following radical cystectomy, such as the ileal conduit, cutaneous urinary reservoir, and orthotopic neobladder. The many forms of urine diversion significantly influence multiple dimensions of quality of life (QoL), encompassing elements such as urinary function, physical well-being, sexual health, psychological adjustment, everyday functioning, and body image-related unhappiness. Aim and objectives: Is to compare between quality of life (QoL), results and complications of orthotopic urinary diversions and ileal conduit diversion after radical cystectomy in patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Subjects and methods: This is a prospective study conducted at Oncosurgery Department, Al-Azhar University …

Short-Term Outcomes Of Laparoscopic-Assisted Anterior Perineal Plane For Ultra-Low Anterior Resection (Appear) For Low Rectal Cancer: A Single Center Experience, Abd El-Fattah Al Sheikh, Alaa Soliman Jan 2024

Short-Term Outcomes Of Laparoscopic-Assisted Anterior Perineal Plane For Ultra-Low Anterior Resection (Appear) For Low Rectal Cancer: A Single Center Experience, Abd El-Fattah Al Sheikh, Alaa Soliman

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: The Anterior Perineal PlanE for Ultra-Low Anterior Resection (APPEAR) methodology was designed specifically for cases of extremely low rectal cancer. Its purpose is to aid with the removal of the most distant part of the rectum. This technique enables the maintenance of the sphincter and minimizes the necessity over abdominal resection (APR) & permanent stomas. Aim of the work : Our study evaluated the surgical, short-term oncological and functional outcomes of laparoscopic-assisted Anterior Perineal PlanE for the ultra-low Anterior Resection (APPEAR) procedure. Methods: A prospective study was conducted on a cohort of twenty patients diagnosed with low rectal cancer, …

Assessment Of Lymph Nodes Status Post Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Using Sentinel Lymph Nodes In Locally Advanced Breast Cancer, Ahmed Mohamed Sheta, Mohamed Mamdouh Asar, Ashraf Abd-Elhamid Abd-Elmonem Jan 2023

Assessment Of Lymph Nodes Status Post Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Using Sentinel Lymph Nodes In Locally Advanced Breast Cancer, Ahmed Mohamed Sheta, Mohamed Mamdouh Asar, Ashraf Abd-Elhamid Abd-Elmonem

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background: Cancer clinics all over the globe have begun using sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy (SLNB) for node-negative early breast cancer since its debut. A negative SLN indicates that 95% to 100% of the other LNs in that axilla are also negative. To evaluate patent blue dye in S/lN biopsy and its consequences to identify axillary level of lymph node involvement, we will analyze its function in post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment of locally advanced breast carcinoma. Methods: This is a prospective cohort research carried out on 20 female patients with LABC who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and will complete their management by …

Outcome Of Two-Stages Tissue Expander Based Breast Reconstruction After Mastectomies, Adel Mohammad Abdulhaliem Lasheen, Ahmed El-Sayed Mohammed Abdulrahman, Mohamed Fathy Abdelfattah Abdelrahman Elithy, Hasanain Ramadan Hasanain Saad

Al-Azhar International Medical Journal

Background Breast reconstruction is now considered an essential aspect of breast cancer treatment rather than just a cosmetic technique. Around 65% of all breast reconstruction methods involve the use of tissue expanders (TEs) and implants. Tissue expander-based reconstructions have many benefits, including less time in surgery, a quicker recovery, and no morbidity at the donor site. In the event that a TE-based reconstruction fails, autologous breast reconstruction is still an option. Several books and articles have been written about tissue expander-based reconstruction, including its techniques, timeline, difficulties, and safety. Aim To evaluate the oncological safety and aesthetic the results of …
