Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a major cause of infant mortality, and sleep-related causes of SIDS are a focus of many strategies to combat infant mortality because they are largely preventable. One intervention that combines the distribution of a portable crib and safe sleep education to families that indicate a financial need is the Cribs for Kids program. The purpose of this study was to assess any changes in recommended safe sleep practices by Cribs for Kids attendees before and after the receipt of a portable crib and safe sleep education.
