Sequencing-Based Polymorphism In Leptin Receptor Gene And Lack Of Association With Postpartum Anestrus In Murrah Buffaloes, Rajesh Kumar, Meenakshi Gupta, Syed Shafiq, Ashok Kumar Balhara, Sadeesh Em, Mayukh Ghosh, Inderjeet Singh

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In order to detect polymorphism in exon 20 of the leptin receptor (LEPR) gene and its possible association with postpartum anestrus (PPA), peripheral blood samples were obtained from 40 Murrah buffaloes including 20 PPA (>120 days after parturition) and 20 normal cyclic (

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Exon 2 of the Ovar-DRB1 gene of 90 Makuie sheep was amplified and analyzed by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism techniques. Ten alleles and 18 genotypes were identified. The frequencies of the genotypes were 0.317, 0.1585, 0.0121, 0.0365, 0.0121, 0.0243, 0.0243, 0.1097, 0.0121, 0.0487, 0.0121, 0.0365, 0.0365, 0.0487, 0.0121, 0.0121, 0.0487, and 0.0365 for AA, AB, AE, FF, AM, BO, EO, IO, OM, AP, BP, OP, PP, AQ, OQ, PQ, QQ, and AV, respectively. Allele frequencies were 0.4756, 0.0976, 0.0183, 0.0366, 0.0549, 0.0122, 0.1098, 0.0915, 0.0854, and 0.0183 for A, B, E, F, I, M, O, P, …

Alpha-lactalbumin plays a key role in lactose synthesis in the mammary glands of domestic animals. This study evaluated Hair (188), Saanen (82), Kilis (63), and Honamli (183) goat breeds, with the primary goal of investigating DNA polymorphism of Mva I RFLP at exon 3 of the alpha-lactalbumin gene. Polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was employed to genotype a total of 516 goats for Mva I polymorphism of alpha-lactalbumin. In the breeds that were studied, digestion of the amplification product with the Mva I restriction enzyme revealed 2 alleles (A1 and A2) and 3 genotypes (A1A1, A1A2, …
