The objectives for this study were to determine prevalence and incidence of potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) use among community-dwelling Medicare Part D beneficiaries, and to assess associations between patients' perceptions of provider communication, provider knowledge, and provider competence with PIM use. A retrospective observational analysis was conducted using data from the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey.
