The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that since 2010 influenza has caused between 9.2 million and 60.8 million illnesses. Numbers from the 2015-2016 influenza season indicate that influenza vaccination prevented approximately 5.1 million influenza illnesses. Though most healthy individuals recover from the flu within 2 weeks, there is great concern for those who do not as this can lead to serious complications. The United States Public Health Service recommends that age appropriate preconception care be provided to all women of reproductive age. Preconception health care provides a woman the opportunity to assess her health status before pregnancy, make appropriate health promoting behavior changes and increase the potential for a healthy pregnancy outcome. Little empirical knowledge exists regarding children's perceptions of health. The purpose of this quantitative descriptive study was to determine the health perceptions of children with a convenience sample of fourth-grade students at a small elementary school in Northeast Mississippi. The theoretical framework utilized was Bandura's Social Learning Theory. The directional hypothesis in the proposed study was school-age children have a positive perception of health. From a population of former clients of the diabetic unit at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, a sample of 21 individuals w e r e g i v e n the Assessment of Educational Needs of the Diabetic Patient Questionnaire. This study was descriptive in nature, designed to identify differences in coping strategies of spouses of Alzheimer patients who are cared for at home . Data were collected using the Chronicity Impact and Coping Instrument: Spouse Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 14 subjects (3 males and 11 females) who met the criteria for the study. Subjects ranged in age from 60 to 86 years with an average age of 68.9 years. One Black and 13 Caucasians participated. To test the hypothesis, data were analyzed using percentiles.
