Expression Of Her-2/Neu In Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Sana Mirza, Naila Hadi, Shahid Pervez, Sultan Zeb Khan, Sameer A. Mokeem, Tariq Abduljabbar, Nawwaf Al-Hamoudi, Fahim Vohra

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Background: HER-2/neu is a member of the human epidermal growth factor (HER) family of transmembrane tyrosine kinases, which is significantly associated with the pathogenesis of various cancer types. The aim was to evaluate the expression of HER-2/neu in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) as a potential biomarker to target antigens for specific immunotherapy in OSCC.
Methods: One hundred and forty histologically diagnosed OSCC cases were identified. Four to five-micrometer thick formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor sections were stained with Haematoxylin and Eosin (H and E). Histological grade was assessed according to WHO/Broders classification, while tumors were staged according to the American Joint …

Mammary-Type Myofibroblastoma Of The Right Thigh: A Case Report And Review Of The Literature, Jamshid Abdul-Ghafar, Nasir Ud Din, Zubair Ahmad, Steven D. Billings Jan 2015

Mammary-Type Myofibroblastoma Of The Right Thigh: A Case Report And Review Of The Literature, Jamshid Abdul-Ghafar, Nasir Ud Din, Zubair Ahmad, Steven D. Billings

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Introduction:
Mammary-type myofibroblastoma of the soft tissue is a very rare, benign, mesenchymal neoplasm with myofibroblastic differentiation. To date, 20 cases of extra-mammary myofibroblastoma have been described in literature. To the best of our knowledge, this is the largest extra-mammary myofibroblastoma described in the literature, and the first case reported in this location.
Case Presentation:
A 50-year-old Pakistani man presented with a long history of a painless, huge lump on his right thigh. His clinical examination showed normal-looking skin and there was no inguinal lymphadenopathy. The mass was excised with a clinical impression of soft tissue sarcoma. Gross examination showed …

Cd20 Positivity In Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma: Diagnostic Challenge Or Targeting Opportunity., Muhammad Abrar Barakzai, Shahid Ahmed Jan 2009

Cd20 Positivity In Classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma: Diagnostic Challenge Or Targeting Opportunity., Muhammad Abrar Barakzai, Shahid Ahmed

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

BACKGROUND:It is now well established that Hodgkin cells are clonal B cells with a CD30 and CD15 phenotype. However, on immunohistochemistry, in our experience and the experience of others, CD20 positivity in an otherwise typical classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma is not uncommon and if associated with CD15 negativity poses a potential diagnostic trap and is likely to be called B-NHL.
OBJECTIVE:To assess the frequency of B-cell related antigens CD20 and CD79a in classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:A total of 91 consecutive cases of classical Hodgkin's Lymphoma were analyzed for co-expression of CD20 and CD79a. Both males and …
