Memory has always been important for humans. Whether it is remembering the location of one’s car in a crowded parking lot or giving an eye-witness testimony, memory is instrumental in every part of society. False memory is a situation where one incorrectly believes or recalls an event. This review is about false memory and how mental disorders may or may not increase the capacity for false memory. Previous studies have found correlations between false memory and specific mental health disorders. Additional research is needed in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, and schizophrenia. The benefits of future research …

In the professional education of mental health practitioners, including occupational therapists, there has been a lack of meaningful inclusion of people labeled with mental illness into curricula, beyond guest speaker panels and presentations. This study explored the experiences of students, faculty, and ‘Experts by Experience’ within a mental health occupational therapy course that incorporated Experts with lived experience as co-facilitators of weekly fieldwork debriefs. The study utilized focus groups and interviews to understand the experiences of students, mental health faculty, and ‘Experts by Experience’. Key themes that emerged from the qualitative data analysis were organized under three broad categories: 1) …

This paper examines the effectiveness of some past and present criminal justice system interventions that addresses the mental health disabilities of criminal offenders pre-adjudicative proceedings. A systematic review of the literature was used to examine past and present criminal …
