The use of radiation reduction techniques in Computed Tomography (CT) is critical in reducing patient dose, and for establishing new standards in radiation monitoring and protection during imaging procedures. CT is used to obtain high quality image sets that contain more useful information than standard x-ray images for diagnostic purposes; however, it utilizes higher radiation dose. With the advancement of newer technologies and techniques, many CT procedures can be performed to achieve high-quality images while using less radiation, and in some cases, improve diagnostic quality as well.
