The purpose of this project was to help create and evaluate a diabetes education program that was accessible to diabetic patients over the age of 18. This project was conducted through Enhanced Healthcare of the Ozarks clinic with the guidance and approval of the American Diabetes Association. There is currently one other diabetic education program available in Northwest Arkansas. With the elderly population expanding in the United States, primary care providers are having to place more emphasis on managing multiple disease etiologies and medication modalities in the outpatient clinic setting. Patients and providers struggle to overcome educational communication barriers that facilitate proper medication adherence and monitoring. The specific aim of this study was to evaluate whether antiplatelet management education increased the patients’ knowledge of medication understanding and possible adverse outcomes. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the third most common vascular disease and includes approximately 900,000 cases annually in the United States. The purpose of this quality improvement project was to enhance education regarding VTE prophylaxis for registered nurses on a medical-surgical inpatient unit at a hospital in the Midwest. This study was initiated due to one nurse’s perception that staff on this unit lacked confidence and expertise on the importance of VTE prophylaxis interventions. Participants completed a VTE knowledge pretest, followed by an educational intervention on VTE prophylaxis utilizing Health Stream. Earlier diagnosis and treatment are the most effective ways of reducing morbidity and mortality related to sepsis. The current sepsis screening tool in place at Stormont-Vail Hospital, in Topeka, Kansas, is the systemic inflammatory response (SIRS) criteria; however, this screening tool has proven to be less effective than other screening tools available. Pediatric diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is on the rise with an increasing financial burden to the healthcare system and the patient (Center for Disease Control, 2015). This study sought to determine if an educational intervention would increase the knowledge of primary care providers in respect to ADHD clinical practice guidelines and the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients.
