Background: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors and status of fast-food consumption among students in Bangladesh.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted from March to November 2020. A total of 654 samples were collected from several schools, colleges, and universities during this study period.

Results: About 60.1% and 39.9% of the students were male and female, respectively. Of the students, 53.1% considered fast food as unhealthy (p < 0.001), but only 47.7% were leading a sedentary lifestyle. A significant outcome of overweight and pre-obesity was observed for student institutions, consumption frequency, daily fast-food consumption, and sedentary lifestyle (p < 0.001). In addition, positive association was observed for fast-food consumption more than three times and less than three times per week (OR and 95% CI: 11.13 [7.52–16.47], p < 0.001), higher social class and lower class (OR and 95% CI: 2.18 [1.31–3.62], p = 0.003), fast food preference and other foods (OR and 95% CI: 1.55 [1.11–2.15], p = 0.009), and sedentary and heavily active lifestyle (OR …

Low-Calorie Diet Improves Pasi Score In Psoriasis Patients With Obesity: An Evidence-Based Case Report, Kristian Kuniawan, Alessa Fahira, Edwin Ti Ramadan, Windy Keumala Budianti

Journal of General - Procedural Dermatology & Venereology Indonesia

Background: The association between psoriasis and metabolic syndrome is appealing as the two may share a similar cross-linking systemic inflammation process. The inflammation processes occurring in obesity and psoriasis may aggravate one another. This raised the question of whether a low-calorie diet would possibly reverse the aforementioned process. This study aims to determine whether calorie restriction reduces psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) in obese patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis receiving conventional treatment compared to no calorie restriction.
Methods: We searched Pubmed/Pubmed Central, ScienceDirect, Cochrane library, EBSCOhost, and Scopus databases using keywords derived from our clinical question. The inclusion …

Association Between Dietary Macronutrient Intake And High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein Levels Among Obese Women In Kuantan, Malaysia, Siti Zuhaidah Shahadan, Azlina Daud, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Lokman Md. Isa, Samsul Draman

Makara Journal of Science

Elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). In general, an individual’s dietary intake may influence the hs-CRP level. However, evidence on the influence of dietary macronutrient intake on hs-CRP levels among obese Malaysian women remains fragmented. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the association between the hs-CRP level and dietary macronutrient intake of obese adults living in Kuantan. The assessment of 24-hour dietary recall and venous hs-CRP levels were investigated in 67 women with a body mass index of 27.5 to 39.9 kg/m². The findings revealed that obese women living …

The New Ropanasuri Journal of Surgery

Introduction. Obesity is an independent risk factor and prognostic factor of primary breast cancer. Abundant adipose tissue would lead to increment of blood estrogen level; thus, promoting proliferation of cancer cell, especially those with positive estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR). No study reported the association between obesity and hormone receptor characteristics of primary breast cancer in Indonesia.

Method. We collected cases of primary breast cancer which is diagnosed and undergone immunohistochemistry examination at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital in 2017. The subjects divided into obese group and non-obese group. The ER and PR characteristics of both groups were compared …

Makara Journal of Health Research

Background: Associations of dietary diversity score (DDS), obesity and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) with glucose metabolism have been reported. Furthermore, DDS may not be associated with healthy weight. However, studies on these topics are limited in general Indonesia population. Methods: A total of 3,825 Indonesia Family Life Survey 2014/2015 participants aged 20-59 years old were included in this study. Obesity increases morbidity and mortality through its multiple efects on nearly every human system. Obesity has efect on the immune response which leads to susceptibility to infections. ß lactamases are bacterial enzymes that inactivate ß-lactam antibiotics by hydrolysis. One group of ß lactamases, extended-spectrum ß lactamases (ESBLs), have the ability to hydrolyse and cause resistance to various types of the newer ß-lactam antibiotics. The management of skin and soft tissue infection with polymicrobial infection and multi drug resistance can be challenging problem. We present a case of an obese patient with polymicrobial SSTI. bPatient showed clinical sign of sepsis with …
