Prevalence Of Porcine Sapovirus In Suckling Piglets In Hunan Province, China, Sheng-Guo Tan, Na Liu, Ping-Yuan Xu

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

Sapoviruses (SaVs) are emerging enteric pathogens that cause diarrhea in humans and animals. In the current study, genetic identification of sapovirus (SaV) in suckling piglets was investigated in Hunan province, China between May 2013 and May 2014. Diarrheic fecal (n=300) samples collected from suckling piglets in Hunan province, China were evaluated using RT-PCR and then sequenced. Overall, 45 of the 300 (15%) samples were found to contain porcine SaV. In addition, phylogenetic analysis showed that all the porcine SaV isolates belonged to the porcine SaV genogroup III (GIII). The results of the present investigation have implications for the control of …

Association Of Mx1 Gene Polymorphism With Some Economic Traits In Meishan Pigs, Xue Mei Yin, Ying Liu, Wen Hua Dong, Qiao Hui Zhao, Guo Qiang Zhu, Sheng Long Wu, Wen Bin Bao Jan 2015

Association Of Mx1 Gene Polymorphism With Some Economic Traits In Meishan Pigs, Xue Mei Yin, Ying Liu, Wen Hua Dong, Qiao Hui Zhao, Guo Qiang Zhu, Sheng Long Wu, Wen Bin Bao

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This study was conducted to determine the association of polymorphisms in exon 14 of the Mx1 gene with significant economic traits in Meishan pigs, with the aim of identifying genetic markers of disease resistance. PCR-RFLP analysis of exon 14 of the Mx1 gene was conducted and associations with some cytokine levels (IFN-$\alpha$, IFN-$\gamma$, IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, and IL-12), early body weight (birth weight, 20-day weight, and 40-day weight), and reproductive performance within different parities (total number born, number born alive, number in live weaning litter, birth weight, and weaning weight) were analyzed. The results showed that there were AA, AB, …

Effects Of Probiotics, Oligosaccharides, And Berberine Combinationson Growth Performance Of Pigs, Guoge Fan, Juan Chang, Qingqiang Yin, Xiao Wang, Xiaowei Dang Jan 2015

Effects Of Probiotics, Oligosaccharides, And Berberine Combinationson Growth Performance Of Pigs, Guoge Fan, Juan Chang, Qingqiang Yin, Xiao Wang, Xiaowei Dang

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

In order to find alternative feed additives to replace antibiotics for safe animal production, combinations of probiotics, oligosaccharides, and berberine were used in this study. Ninety 60-day-old pigs were assigned to 9 groups, with 10 pigs for each group. Group 1 was the control, group 2 had antibiotics added, and groups 3-9 had different levels of combinations added. The experimental period was 60 days. The results indicated that average daily gain and feed conversion ratio had no significant differences among the 9 groups (P > 0.05); however, the diarrhea rates in the control group and the high probiotic groups with low …
