The Effect Of The Sale Of Whole Or Cut Up Chicken Meat On Enterprise Income According To Season, Yavuz Cevger, Savaş Sariözkan, Hakan Güler

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

Weighing data from 389 broiler carcasses and parts formed the research material. The carcasses were divided into 6 different groups according to their weight. Cutting up shrinkage and percentage rates of the parts in the total weight were determined. Gross and net changes in enterprise income were determined according to the summer and winter prices of the whole body and parts. It was determined that cutting up caused a 4.03% net increase in enterprise income at summer prices and a 0.91% net increase at winter prices. It was also determined that cutting up carcasses smaller than 1400 g and greater …

Performance And Some Digesta Parameters Of Broiler Chickens Given Low Or High Viscosity Wheat-Based Diets With Or Without Enzyme Supplementation, Mevlüt Günal, Sulhatti̇n Yaşar, John Mike Forbes Jan 2004

Performance And Some Digesta Parameters Of Broiler Chickens Given Low Or High Viscosity Wheat-Based Diets With Or Without Enzyme Supplementation, Mevlüt Günal, Sulhatti̇n Yaşar, John Mike Forbes

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

The influence of 2 enzyme supplements for diets based on wheat with high or low viscosity on performance and some intestinal parameters of male broiler chickens were investigated. The experiment was of 2 x 3 factorial design, with 2 types of wheat (high or low viscosity) and 3 enzyme treatments (none, Avizyme 1300-xylanase or Avizyme 1500-amylase). Ileal digesta viscosity was significantly (P < 0.029) higher in birds fed with high viscous wheat than with low viscous wheat. Ileal digesta viscosity (P < 0.001) and dry matter content (P < 0.002) were significantly reduced by both enzyme preparations. Body weight gain, feed intake, dry matter intake, feed conversion ratio, DM retention and wet or dry excreta output were not significantly (P > 0.05) affected by all treatments. There were no significant interactions (P > 0.05) between the effects of wheat type and enzyme supplementation. In conclusion, the supplementation of high or low viscous wheat-based diets with the enzyme preparations of amylase …

The Effect Of Grower Diet Protein Level On The Performance And Some Slaughtering Characteristics Of Sex-Separated And Mixed- Sex Broilers, Veysel Ayhan, Mehmet Bozkurt, Kami̇l Küçükyilmaz Jan 2004

The Effect Of Grower Diet Protein Level On The Performance And Some Slaughtering Characteristics Of Sex-Separated And Mixed- Sex Broilers, Veysel Ayhan, Mehmet Bozkurt, Kami̇l Küçükyilmaz

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

This trial examined 1350 sex-separated broilers at 24 days of age. Chicks were fed standard broiler starter diet for the first 21 days. Isocaloric grower diets (16.84%, 18.00% and 19.46% crude protein, respectively) were offered to broilers housed in sex-separated and mixed-sex pens from days 24 to 45 of the experimental period. While the body weights of sex-separated and mixed-sex broilers were similar, diet protein level and sex had a significant effect on the body weight of broilers during the experimental period (P < 0.01). Male broilers consumed more feed and had better feed conversion than females (P < 0.01). However, separate sex rearing had no significant effect on feed consumption or feed conversion rate (P > 0.05). As diet protein level decreased feed consumption increased numerically and feed conversion was negatively affected (P …
