The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

A continuing incidence of abortion record was investigated in a 1700 sow-breeding farm during 1992 through the first three quarters of 1995. The abortion rate per pregnant sows per year were 2.5, 3.7, 3.9 and 3.2% respectively compared to 0.3% recorded in 1991. Six months before, the farm has introduced the first batch of replacement gilts from a domestic breeding supplier into the farm. No obvious clinical signs were observed in sows. Laboratory evidences did not show any significant association with any conventional infection of the agents related the abortion.
